    Cave Story is one of my favorite video games and one of the most influential indie games created. It was finished in 2004 by a single man (known as "Pixel") who worked on it for 5 years until it was completed. It was released as freeware: however a WiiWare and DSiWare version have been released. A 3DS remake is also in progress.

    MINOR PLOT SPOILERS FOLLOW!
    Cave Story is a single-player platformer. You play as the main character (his name is a spoiler!) who is an amnesiac robot. As you play you will meet many lovable characters including Balrog (a lunchbox toaster soap who loves to say Huzzah!). Along the way you will collect many weapons (Nemesis and Bubbler are my favorite) and face many enemies (The witch named Misery among them.) It's really an epic game and one of my favorites.

    I take it with me on a USB drive wherever I go. ALSO listen to the music on the title screen before pressing start. It's one of my favorite art compositions.

    Tip: if you trade your gun with Curly you can't get the Snake or Spur later in the game. :)

    Glad to hear people are trying it out. Post your thoughts in this thread so it's not just me rambling on!

    ALSO if any of you get pretty good there is a secret final area that if unlocked (and you have a special item) it times how long it takes to complete it. (So that people can compare scores online!) If you get past this level post your time!

    Cave story is very addicting and fun, I'm having trouble defeating the last boss after he turns into red goo.

    Most people, including myself, do. Get over this. People judge off graphics, sounds, colors, flashiness, and many other categories so deal with it. Otherwise move to a communist country and become the leader. Then try to say "everyone who judges books by their cover shall be executed"

    Psssh, try fighting the REAL last boss. Then come back. (No he's seriously scary..)

    Or you can just go away and stop complaining. The graphics really aren't that bad at all anyways.

    Also, some people should take their own advice and "get over (it)". A paragraph response to a comment posted months ago that serves no purpose to the thread doesn't need to be posted in the first place. If you really have that much of an issue with it, take it to PMs.
