I haven't ever gotten into it even though I've tried, but a lot of my friends do and it seems to help them.

  2. Seems arcane these days. It's easier to just type down notes of quotidian tasks on your computer instead, and save it to a program like Word, Notepad, or Notepad++. I prefer the latter program just because it's convenient to have tabs of different notes, and then I delete the files when I'm done.

But if it's about writing my own "auto-biography", it's not really worth it, especially if all I'm going to do is write down even the most boring task I've done for a particular day. I'm not going to read through what I wrote about myself anyway, and most likely other people aren't going to read through it either. It would probably only be worthwhile, if it was during a crippling time period (maybe while stranded at sea, trapped at home during a war, or something else) and all I had was a book and a quill, or if I wanted to share a story myself after becoming famous, but the stories would need to be worth writing about.

I suppose it's something you can look back to, but I am personally not keen about the idea.

I guess I'll be the odd ball on this one but, yep. I've found writing to be a good outlet for me an a great way to help me understand myself, if that makes sense. It's not a regular thing or a set thing, just when I feel the need I'll grab my book an start writing. I don't do it often but going back through can also be pretty interesting, it's kinda a strange experience reading what I wrote years and years ago... amazing what you forget.

I also highly recommend writing by hand. An I say that as someone that doesn't like hand writing stuff but at least for me it just wasn't the same doing it electronically. I really can't explain it. Maybe that's just a me thing though.

I would also write it by hand too if I were to actually write a diary/journal. I do get what you mean. There's just something to it that makes it better to do it that way.

  6. I will say, in elementary school, I did have a school planner, and it looked something more or less like this:

The way it worked was for each class, we would write down the main highlight of things that were covered in class and write down what homework assignments we had, though the planner was mostly for writing down homework assignments. Then students would have to get their parents to write down a comment, usually it was their signature and the purpose was for teachers to verify that the students' parents were making sure that their kids were doing their assignments.

I kind of thought these planners were neat to have, but unfortunately, I didn't end up using them for middle school or high school. Pretty good way to remind yourself of homework though, in case you forget.
