One Man Left Studios has released a free lite version of the iPhone’s Tilt to Live on November 11, 2010. This free demo of the accelerometer-based shooter is accompanied by a temporary price drop for the full version from $2.99 USD to 99¢. It marks the third Tilt to Live app release this year, joining the iPhone original and the iPad’s Tilt to Live HD.

Tilt to Live, currently enjoyed by more than half a million users, is an arcade shooter with a unique combat system. Rather than endlessly firing at enemies, players must evade them long enough to reach a weapon orb. On contact, each of the nine unlockable orbs unleashes a different offensive attack, including a burning barricade, an ice blast, and a spinning shield of spikes. All of this action is controlled exclusively by responsive, customizable tilt controls.

Tilt to Live lite is designed to mimic the “try before you buy†principle of the iPad’s Tilt to Live HD. Lite is its own app, however, and does not use an in-app purchase to unlock the full game. Players are given access to one of the full version’s four gametypes: Classic mode. They can also compete with other lite users on a Game Center leaderboard. Of the nine weapons available in the full version, players will have four at their disposal in lite: the nuke, blast wave, cluster missiles, and ice blast. The game’s signature spike shield also appears randomly as an ultra-rare bonus.

The lite version’s arrival paves the way for a recently-teased content expansion, slated for release in December. It will be the third expansion since Tilt to Live’s February release. Previous expansions have included the addition of three gametypes: Code Red, Gauntlet, and Frostbite, as well as the “burnicade€ weapon orb.
