:) That does make better sense. Thanks for catching that. Does anybody else own the Kindle Fire yet?

It runs on Android right, so anything on the app market is fair game?

Not exactly, Amazon locked it to use it's own market, their are ways of getting the full market but no guarantee everything will work.

So you really like the Kindle Fire then?

At first I was excited about it but then I saw all of the negative reviews and have decided against it. I already own a Kindle so I can read anything from their store. And they only have like 8 GB storage space so not much for movies/music. As for the web browser... well I can already get internet anywhere with 3G network so why should I want WiFi? And then for apps and stuff I can already get all of that on my smart phone so I have no need to download or buy them again.

What makes you guys love the Fire so much... or rather, why should I get it instead of a cheaper Android tablet?

There is not really a need to buy apps again because you get a free premium app everyday:).

I read that game developers are focusing more on games aimed at the Kindle Fire....could make it the most popular Android tablet?

Gonna answer this as it's still applies to today's Kindle Fires.

The Storage issue has improved since but 8gb wasn't a big deal at all especially compared to the norm, the Fire was a cheap tablet and many tablets of the same cost at the time were only at 16gb at max, 8 was quite common. WiFi is much faster and much cheaper, really no reason to not want it. Having 3G is nice but this was a budget tablet, even today a 3G option is not standard for tablets, in fact many do not offer it at all still.

As for "I already have a smartphone", to anyone, if you find yourself asking this question then I really suggest saving the money and sticking with the phone. It's true, smartphones do most if not all the same things and if your happy with that, be happy! The Fire is not targeted at the smartphone crowd, it's a budget tablet for the masses that don't have smartphones or simply want a bigger screen at a low price.

The Fire was one of if not the best budget tablets at the time, the line is still pretty good today in terms of price and performance. Sure you could get a cheaper tablet but especially back then it wouldn't be anywhere near the quality.

The Fire line is still a good value today, Amazon has done a nice job and I'm glad people have supported them enough to continue it. The original Fire's success paved the way for the awesome pricing on the Nexus 7 line we have today and has produced a nice alternative quality line to keep said Nexus line improving.

Aaddron, thanks for the review. I know someone who wants a tablet and I really know nothing about them. Good info.

Nexus is the best price for performance, they are great devices but stock android can be considered complicated to people that haven't used it. The Fire line is excellent value, not quite as good specs but it's got a simplified interface and performs well, only nagging issue is you're locked into Amazon. As far as budget tablets go they are the best in my opinion.

Beyond that can't go wrong with an iPad, even back to an iPad 2 is still a decent device. Nothing really wrong with the top tablets on the Android side either it's just there is so many of them it's easier to get rooked.
