    Limited Edition Chosen Commander Hoodies

Back when we launched the Chosen Commander quest in March, we quietly released a small number of limited edition hoodies, to see how many of you had eyes sharp enough to spot the new addition to the store.

These hoodies feature the mark of Bandos (which you may remember from Zanik’s forehead) and the face of Bandos himself!

For those unfamiliar with Bandos, he is the god of goblins, orks, ogres, and other brutal creatures (many of which are mercifully extinct). He identifies himself as a god of war, and the goblins refer to him as the ‘Big High War God’. The origins of his symbol aren't known, but it has been used to represent Bandos at least as long as he has had an influence on RuneScape.

We’ve still got a few hoodies left from the original batch made in March, so if you want to get one now is your last chance, as once they are gone they will never be made again.

Head over to the store now to see the Chosen Commander hoodie.

    Macro-detection systems update

It’s been a while since we updated you on what we are doing to prevent cheating in RuneScape, and particularly to catch and ban macroers, so here’s what’s currently going on:

You’ve probably already noticed while playing the game that there has been a lot less macroing going on over the last year, as we’ve been getting more effective at preventing it. Gone are the days where every tree has an accompanying crowd of bots. However, we’re not resting on our laurels, and in fact we have just strengthened our macro-detection systems yet again. We are about to ban several thousand more accounts for macroing. We have reviewed all the macro programs available, and there are none we cannot detect.

These days we are taking a zero-tolerance approach to macroing. Players caught for macroing don’t receive a warning, or a chance to appeal, or even a last-chance appeal - they are just permanently banned. Don’t make the mistake of believing that we’ll be soft, and that you can get away with it until you are warned. You can’t. Don’t risk your account. By the time you realize you’ve been caught it will be far too late.

Also, high-level and members’ accounts are NOT immune, or given an extra chance. One of the reasons for our RWT changes was precisely so players couldn’t effectively macro on low–level, throwaway accounts to gain wealth. This means they were tempted to macro on their high–level, main accounts instead, which plays straight into our hands as our existing anti-macro systems catch and ban them! This has proven very effective; so far this month we have already banned over 500 high-level accounts with skills in the 80s and 90s. Don’t make your account one of them.

This is a warning to players that would have otherwise been sucked in by the misinformation spread by cheating communities; don’t do it, or you will lose your hard-earned account.

For further information, please refer to the honour section of the Rules of RuneScape.

    "Worst Update Ever!"

We have decided to freshen up the Official Jagex Store a little by introducing some brand new items and packs.

    T-shirts
Designed by staff here at Jagex, we wanted to bring these t-shirts out as a special and personal celebration of our experiences of the unique history and culture that has developed around our games. Check out the "Worst Update Ever", "Mugger Level 6" and "Rare" t-shirts, and the FunOrb "Let's Bounce!" t-shirt, and you’ll see what we mean.

    Posters
We have also added four high-quality posters to the store in response to demand we've received over the last few weeks. You will now be able to find three RuneScape scenes in the store, and a brand new Arcanists-themed poster that our FunOrb players might be interested in.

    Packs
We’ve released six new packs that offer some great savings – our new gamer pack is better than ever – and with the variety that’s now on offer, there should be something for everyone.

Head over to the store now to check out the new items for yourself.

New Items in the Jagex Store

Four awesome new items have been added to the Jagex online store, and are available from today. Continuing with our plans to stock the online store with more stuff, check out our latest additions:

    Kree’arra mouse mat
The two new mouse mats feature some of our favourite pieces of concept artwork. This familiar image is of Kree’arra, general of Armadyl's armies, performing a swooping dive bomb attack.

    Red dragon mouse mat
The second of the new mouse mats features some very recent concept art of a red dragon. This will let you always keep it in sight, so maybe you won’t be as scared next time you come face to face with one.

    Runes mug
The runes mug combines the powers of all the runes imprinted on the outside, to make your coffee that extra bit delicious. (Humidify and Superheat spells not included.)

    Poison Arrow stein
Fancy a Ranger's Aid? Now that’s what I’m talking about. Doff your Robin Hood hat to Marion and fill your ranger boots with this stein glass imprinted with the Poison Arrow logo.

Head over to the store now!

    Forums Reshuffle

During the last year or so, it has become apparent that our forums are just too busy and fast-moving for most of our forum-users’ needs. This can lead to frustrations such as spending a long time creating a thread only for it to disappear off the forums after a couple of days, or threads receiving lots of ‘spam’ or off-topic posts from people who are less invested in a particular discussion.

As a result, we have created communities within the forums based on your in-game levels and membership status. To start with, there are three member communities and one free-to-play communities. Each of these forum communities enables players with similar in-game levels to discuss tactics and general game discussions relevant to their levels.

In addition to the new communities, there are still shared forums accessible by all players, where you’ll be able to meet with your clan mates, organise events and roleplaying, trade, and ask other players for help. We will be looking to offer more forums to our growing language communities.

We are planning to gradually bring more free-players into the forum community, so that they too can join in and get involved with organising events and contributing to general game discussions and advice. We may also look to create more forum communities in the future.

All of these changes should help to improve the pace of the forums, but, most importantly, improve your experience on our forums by creating like-minded communities with similar levels of knowledge and experience. Maybe you’ll even make some new friends in the process!

Please visit this forum thread and read the FAQ there before you start posting in the reshuffled forums.

    Video Q&A Poll Result

In a recent poll, we asked you which department you wanted to see interviewed first as part of our upcoming “Video Q&A†series. You voted in your thousands and we’re happy to announce that the RuneScape Content Team were picked to face your questions first! Don’t worry if that wasn’t the team you picked, as all the teams will be getting a chance to answer your questions in the near future.

So, what’s next? Well, we’ll need some of your questions to fire at the winning team, of course. That’s why we’ve set up a Video Q&A Questions thread where we can take your question submissions. Once you’ve read the all-important question guide on the first post, you can submit your suggestions and get involved! Don’t forget that all members and players with over 5m total XP (or a total level of 1,000) can post on our forums, so there’s plenty of opportunity to get your questions heard. We’ll be picking a selection of questions in time for shooting the video, so we’ll be closing the thread on Wednesday 28th April 2010. Make sure you get your questions in before then.

    In other poll-related news...

From now on, all future polls will be open to both members and free players! We really value the thoughts and opinions of all our players, and that’s why we want to enable all of you to tell us what you think. Our polling system automatically logs each voter’s member status, so we’ll always be able to take into account exactly how our members and free players feel about the questions we put to you.

And that’s not all... We’re also introducing a weekly prize draw for all poll participants! At the close of each poll, we’ll be picking one lucky participant at random and awarding them with one month of RuneScape membership! So, you click a couple of boxes to let us know what you think and we’ll give you a shot at some freebies. How’s that for a good deal?

As ever, we really want to know what you think of our polls so that we can continue to improve them, and we want to hear your ideas for future poll questions too. So if you want to discuss the latest poll, forum users should head over to the Official Poll Feedback & Ideas thread. Alongside the discussion, all of our players can also learn about how to get their poll ideas to us via our official polls email address.

So don’t delay – get involved today!
