So.. I need to make fire. And I haven't played Minecraft in months. And the last time I played it I was too busy making a city in the clouds and had no need for fire. What do you need besides sticks to make a torch again? Isn't like coal or something, where the heck do you find that shit!?!? :p

One piece of coal on top of one stick makes four torches. Coal is fairly easy to find, it's often exposed on the sides of mountains. If you can't find any on the surface, though, it's very common underground. Mine it with a pickax. :)

Unprocessed logs, don't try it with planks.

And Lion, if you want actual fire, you need to get flint and an iron ingot, and you can make flint and steel which lets you light actual blocks on fire. The fire either goes out or burns up the block though, with most blocks.

The Minecraft Wiki is always a great source for info on Minecraft recipes and tips: Minecraft Wiki - Minecraft Wiki

You could always come here for the quirky questions though.

It doesn't always burn up if you specialize in the Hell-transport industry..(The Nether's base stone/sand never stops being on fire. I use it for lights in my tunnels often :) )

Yeah, Netherrack gives eternal fire. That's why I said most blocks. ;)

Love that stuff. It's so useful and looks sweeeet as lighting if you recess it behind some glass. :D

When digging instead of torches I typically dig one more deep on the side and then place a netherstone. Fill in the block above it too so I don't get set on fire. It looks much better and I think is equilivant to a torch. (Cheaper too...besides the one iron for your flint and steel.)
