GameFreak has decided to make a Pokemon MOBA.
Actually, GameFreak doesn't really have much involvement in Pokémon Unite (same with other spin-offs like Pokémon GO). Pokémon Unite is actually being developed by TiMi Studios which is a subsidiary of Tencent Games.
Personally, I don't expect this game to be as huge as Pokémon GO, just because there's already been mixed criticism for this game from its YouTube video announcement, and the genre isn't as revolutionary as augmented reality. I think it'll just be like any ordinary MOBA (maybe with its own unique take to fit the mechanics of Pokémon), except that the Pokémon will be mostly serve as eye-candy to cater specifically to those fans.
The game's not that bad. Only ridiculous part is that a losing team can swing the game around if they defeat Zapdos, so there is a bit of a strategy for the winning team to play defense at the endgame by not attacking Zapdos, but attacking people heading towards the center. Other than that, there's mostly been balance patches.
