What games will stand out and be remembered as classics?

    New Super Mario Bros. (Mario returns to 2D, in a very fun and creative platformer. Started the return of Mario)

    Twilight Princess (Time will be kinder to this game, much like TWW, public perception will raise in approval over the years)

    Wii Sports (Very simple, but I think the simple fun will be remembered fondly, and this will probably be THE most played game this generation. It'll be remembered in the same vein as Pac-Man or other simple classics)

    BioShock (A creepy, innovative, classic that was one of the first truly next generation games for me)

    The Orange Box (One of the best deals in gaming history. Portal alone was worth 50 dollars, and every game is pure quality in it)

    Super Mario Galaxy (So fun, creative, classic, well designed, whimsical...truly the best game this generation for me IMO)

    Metal Gear Solid 4 (The perfect, dramatic end to one of gaming's best franchises)

    Spore (Although it will maybe not be the highest praised in years to come, it will be well known for it's bold ideas and concepts)

    Mario Bros and maybe just maybe Diablo but i think that will die and be forgotten about 15 years ahead unless they keep the Diablo series going.

    *3.1 era

    -commander keen (the first one of the series (there were a total of 7, including keen dreams) is still the best one of them all
    -spear of destiny (lets face it, its the shooter of all shooters and it simply is better than doom)
    -sim city (just because it was so inmensely popular)
    -patience (what windows computer doesn't have it, its the 1 person card game of all card games)
    -comanche (helicopter war time simulation, it was the best one of its kind at that time)

    *95 era
    -transport tycoon (even though I never bought it, i downloaded it when it became abandonware, this is the true classic of both the tycoon games and the transport games and the first one of its kind with this Wright's engine)
    -gangsters (the first true game of the mafia genre, it had a clumsy interface, but the gameplay nevertheless was excellent, its actually better than the sequel gangsters2)

    *98 era
    -caesarIII (culmination upon the city building genre, the first good one of its kind)
    -the sims (lets face it, first of its kind and still widely popular, especially with women (who still play less games than men, but are gaining terrain))
    -age of empiresII (best one of the earlier generation of these RTS games)
    -civilizationII (its better than civ1 and was the first one of the series to be truly good and popular and the first one of its kind with that type of worldmap)
    -shogun total war (first of the total war series and first game were the real time engine became effective and good (there was braveheart prior to it))
    -patrician2 (simply because it was the best trading game/economic simulation at that time)
