    It's really not as farfetched as it sounds, especially on mobile. F2P is rapidly increasing and becoming a mainstream payment model, this means the game is free but is payed for with in app purchases and/or advertisements. 100% free games will never be the norm, people have to get paid but "free" as in Free 2 Play is definitely possible.

    Been some good free games over the years, people just making stuff for fun or open source collaborations were multiple people chip in free time but yeah, Triple AAA 100% free games is very unlikely. Even a big company like EA can't really afford to pump 100 million into development just to give the game away for nothing.

    I don't think it would even be practical, considering there are hundreds to several thousands of mobile games out there competing with each other for top charts. And developers need to generate revenue somehow, and I believe it costs a yearly subscription to even have an app up on the app store.
