    I would say Dragon Ball Z captures the best action of any anime. You have the memorable analog synth sound effects, a lot of dragged out fight scenes, a true villain in the first saga, and the iconic super saiyan transformation.

    And although the fights tend to take up several episodes, I really don't think any other anime could achieve the feat that DBZ achieved, especially any modern anime. Long fight scenes these days would probably lose interest in the audience. And could you imagine waiting 9 months (one new episode every week) from when the Z Fighters confront Frieza just to get to the climax of the story?

    Also, DBZ is an inspiration to many other action animes.
