If you've been away from World of Tanks for a spell, today is a good day to climb back into your MS1 and drive into armored battle. Wargaming is set to launch WoT Update 8.0, bringing a major visual overhaul and an upgrade to the in-game physics engine to create more realistic tank behavior. Ready to jump some tanks? Wargaming is calling this the "most important upgrade since the game's release."

In addition to more realistic physics and improved lighting, Update 8.0 is bringing in new optimization for the UI, better rendering, adaptive camouflage, and new minimap functions. Four new tank destroyers are gracing the branches of the USSR tech tree, and the Matilda Black Prince, the first premium British machine, is available for purchase in the in-game shop

Tanks will now be able to ride over ledges, drive through rivers, push enemy and allied vehicles, and more. As Wargaming notes, this will likely mean some crazy tank driving for awhile:
"It may mean some hectic early days while everyone is taking their tanks off some sweet jumps," Wargaming stated. "Let them have their fun, it'll just give you time to gain an edge by carefully studying the layout of the new maps, devising new strategies, and finding new uses for old tricks."
The user interface has also been tweaked, new tanks and achievements added, and more. Get the full rundown in the World of Tanks Update 8.0 Patch Notes.
