WoW vs. DDO - MMORPG Showdown

WOW, the story line is great ^^

 

Even though it will sadly be beat out by WoW probably by votes from people who have never even played DDO. DDO is much better game.

DDO has Better graphics, better story, MORE content, MORE updates, great community. Just beats WoW in every way.

Kinda sad really that the WoW monster still has this much control over people when there are so many better games out there

I dont get why people think because a game is "popular" that automatically means its good.

Im sure many games could be just as popular as WoW if not more so if they spent the money on commercials and hiring famous people to claim they play it, most I bet have never even touched the game.

The fact is the ONLY reason why WoW has so many subscribers is because they spend SO much on marketing. Its all people hear about.

Personally I would rather see the money go back into the game and improving it then wasting it paying some famous person to spout off about it on TV.

What you also get often times in large population games like WoW is a really sucky community as well. Trolls, griefers, immature kids, and just plain stupidity running rampant. Sure all games have that to a degree but when your marketing to everyone and their little brother and using the idiot box to do it, you end up with the problem magnified.

I would rather play with 100 people who didnt annoy the snot out of me then play with 10,000 who did.

I have played WoW and DDO albeit briefly. WoW will win because it has 12 million players and another huge expansion.

I think DDO is actually a better game just because it is different than other games. What WoW does well is that it is very new player friendly and easy to play. People that have never played an MMORPG can step in and learn it quickly. However for people that have played MMORPGs before there really isn't anything unique about it besides the huge subscription numbers. DDO is a very good PvE game that has pretty cool dungeons and instanced content. It's also free so it gets the nod here for me. The combat is different from most MMORPGs as well.

 

The reason WoW isn't unique is cause everybody copied... I actually found WoWs combat system to be just as fun as DDO's... in PvE DDO totally burst WoWs bubble, but unfortunatly PvP is a big thing for me so DDO sorta fails there

Personally, I don't like both of them. I like fantasy world games. e.g anime, cartoony, pink interface.

 

Honestly, how good they are depends on what kind of games you like. DDO has some of the better quests and story while WoW has better PvP (DDO has arenas but they hardly can compare). I have played some of both and I must say, WoW is the better game side by side. However, they cannot be compared as equals because they are not. DDO is free and that's why it has my vote.
