GameOgre.com is going to be trying something fun and creative that is old school in a way. Not sure if they are still made or not, but as a kid I remember “reading” or “playing” Choose your Own Adventure books. I can remember quite a few from some on Dungeons and Dragons,  to one on Martial Arts, to many on mysteries and in space. There are now web versions of these adventures and some downloadable adventures like the Choice of the Dragon made by Choice of Games. The downloadable adventures/games can also be found in a variety of places and platforms including Steam, iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Kindle. In fact, I downloaded Choice of the Dragon a few years ago when I first got my Kindle. What is good about these games is that they are mostly text and use your imagination and decision making skills.

With that in mind, GameOgre will be first trying the web version to see how well it does and what all it may lead to. Once we get the format down, think the imagination of our community could help fuel quite a few adventures. We have already had quite a few suggestions including having many characters, involving Ogre Wars, using Ogre Coins from the forum somehow, and involving MOBAs somehow. Each suggestion will be evaluated to see if it is possible or not.

Without further ado, the adventure will start here and traverse throughout the rest of GameOgre. Have fun and leave comments here on what you think of Ogre Adventures:).

Ogre Adventures

You are in a mysterious land covered with trees and bushes. There is a slight fog in the air and the  distant sound of screeching met with occasional blasts of roars.

You are unarmed and clothed only with a brown vest and pants made of some type of animal skin. Looking at your arms and feet you see quite a bit of hair. Both your arms and feet are also very large. You bring your hand to your mouth in astonishment and feel two very large fangs sticking out. Is this right? Is it really you?

The ground starts to tremble to bring you out of your thoughts. Survival instincts take over as you start to survey the area around you. There is a waterfall to the north, a very dark forest to the south, a structure covered with vines to the west, and a cluster of hills to the east.

Which direction do you take?

North

South

East

West

  1. I’ve chosen my path, but can’t click on anything after that? Is it just me or it’s not finished yet? 🙂

  2. As I said, that is the better way to all of us can see what you thinking when you show us a little story of the game.
My personal thoughts was not going in that direction. I expected something what won’t be just text and pictures. To be honest, I know it’s hard to make a game, but this type of games a lot of players won’t like. It’s just reading and clicking, they need more action.
I can say that I love games with story and defenetly I will play this game when you finish… Hope there will be some updates and reworks where will ,,work” all community 🙂
Wish you to game be realised as soon as possible.
P.S. sorry if I hurt you, but it’s my honestly observations…

  3. I already said this is exactly how the game will be:). The story unfolds as you play, That is the point. I am working on it more to expand it and made progress last night. You are talking apples and oranges here lol. These games are actually more popular than you think and it is the one type of game that I know I can do without having to wait on a developer or graphics artist:).

  5. This is a good narrating type game. Different path will have a different story but how can we know the status of our attributes is this included in the quest?
