Comment: Even with its blemishes, there's a lot of enjoyment to be had in the creaking world of Defiance 1.0. Its creators have banked on the "fun shall overcome" school of game design which, with exceptions, Defiance achieves. I only wish it didn't have to overcome quite so much.

Comment: Unintuitive controls and a storyline that is a little hard to follow. Possibly better if you watch the show first? Possibly not my kind of game, but I couldn't bring myself to like this game enough to keep playing beyond a few hours.

At the very least, it's a well-produced game with good graphics, so it might appeal to others.

Comment: Defiance is technically beautiful and an excellent game designed by Trion Worlds—which we should expect from a developer who brought us *Rift*—but it has suffered from a few UI issues and launch difficulties. Some players who are not used to consoles will find difficulty interfacing with this game. That aside, the game is also technically excellent: good rendering, cheesy but enjoyable voice acting, and quests that deliver a real themepark MMO experience. It is a passable and functional MMO shooter with a lot
going for gameplay—for variety there are strange weapons including “infectors” that grow bugs on enemies and energy weapons. (Refers to the PC version).
