2013 and Possible GameOgre 2.0

VIP would be great for you guys but I'm not seeing how it benefits the whole Community. One barrier is already causing issues, adding another defiantly wont help any.

The idea seems to be to create a tier just like Royals because you guys aren't Royals. So we make VIP, add some people and then what, people not VIP or Royal are upset they are left out too, just like you guys now. Now they want a group too, it's a never ending cycle and by the time it's done everyone has their own "elite group" so no group is actually "elite" and the Community is segregated to the point it's no longer a Community.

If that's not enough reason, well you got the people that wont be happy that they are stuck in the VIP group instead of the Royals (regulars all over again)... you know at least a few of the Royals probably wont be happy VIP exists as it's essentially the same thing. Also the potential of VIP vs Royal, that appears pop up every once and a while with Regular vs Royal, except now it's 10x worse. None of which is good for the Community.

 

Well, the ogre coins, you could use them for triple triad (though I would save up to 20k first and just jump right in with an ogre king bag). That's literally all they exist for. If you don't play it, the coins just sit there, like they do for everyone else who doesn't play.
The points, well, that just depends on whether the non-royal cards are cards you can use, or if there's a game from steam or whatever that you want that you can buy (pending their being in stock, of course). I can certainly see why having the most popular cards blocked off from you would be a hindrance, though.

I like the idea of the non-royal licence to buy royal cards, though. It preserves ogre's intention to keep royal status as an incentive for the most helpful and integral community members, but also gives those of you with point stockpiles that want to use them another out.

I stand by Aaddron's points about VIP creating community conflict rather than solving anything other than perhaps very short term.

Another possible solution, would be Regulars can spend any Points over say 40k on Royal Items. So say you want $10 UGC, you'd need 40k then 10k for the card (note you don't spend the 40k). This helps fixes cases like yours, gives a little more incentive to Regulars but still keeps Royal a goal without devaluing it much. It does have a few kinks like once someone is at 40k they can sit on it so they only need 10k.

40k + Card sounds like a lot but it's suppose to be a stop gap, anyone able to do this repeatedly would in theory be close to Royal anyways.

Of course it's not all clear cut though, especially with the Forum Shop.
