Download from many anime sites, or just watch online. Many of them are even on youtube.

I thought this was nice...until I figured out japanese episodes were 30+ episodes ahead :D.

Also...Japan takes less animation/voice recording and all that brakes compared to America and other countries from my experience.

You could convert it to mp4 or something and use itunes to burn it. Never tried it though.

I have a (cracked) any video converter at the latest version has a burn function.

ffmpeg is the only legit free converter that I know of. Converting between the codecs requires licensing fees for all of the companies who own the formats, so converters that are free tend to be...'removed' pretty quickly.

ffmpeg survives as it doesn't have a GUI and the companies don't care as much. It's easier to use than a GUI, anyways. All you have to do is type "ffmpeg -i file.mp4 file.avi" to convert an mp4 to an avi.

As for the OP, that would depend on your morals. A lot of anime is subbed by third party groups that do not own the rights to distribute it. Some people feel it's alright to download this, as there is no official English translation. Others would like to still support the producers of the anime, and buy the DVD. Others buy it when it is licensed in an English speaking country, even if they watched fansubs before. Some don't give a crap and download anything from anyway.
