AQ3D Healer Vs Paladin

    We so far use paladin as our main healing class in game, but a healer class has been specifically announced. How do you think it could be different or better, and if the healer happens to be purely a supportive healing class, would you prefer it over paladin for regular use ?

    Paladin as a main healer? What about Moglomancer and Guardian? They both are literally better at healing when it comes to overall healing output assuming you heal multiple party members each time you use your healing skill. AoE heals are generally better in every situation which Moglomancer and Guardian can provide and Paladin cannot. Paladin's Holy Shield does compensate for the lack of AoE healing and can be better when it comes to single target sustain which isn't really needed most of the time. I would choose Healer over Paladin if I wanted to properly heal and choose Paladin if my party already has a Healer to take the role of the off-healer assuming that it's actually needed.

    We don't really know what skills Healer is going to get so I will just assume it's better at healing compared any other class and finally fill that role. All we got is off-healers which is kinda strange to say considering we don't even have a proper main healer class yet, but we will eventually do when Healer class comes out. The reason why we got them is to have some classes with healing skills before the Healer class comes out with a proper healing skill set.
     
  4. I'm hoping Healer class is some analog to Mage class and Pirate/Ninja class. For instance, instead of casting spells as a form of an attack, it would be more like casting spells as a form of defense. And Healer should have access to more skills (like Pirate and Ninja), so it isn't just constrained to healing (the class would also need good attacking skills). The important thing we need out of a Healer class is the ability to heal oneself and the ability to heal a group.

    Healer could get a better version of Paladin's heal that also heals you, but instead of doing a very small amount of AoE damage, it does AoE healing around to allies around the target or remove that AoE part of it. It's not easy to achieve that middle ground, but knowing that AE really has gone with a more balanced approach with class balancing compared to AQW, I expect that they will figure it out.

    I have been waiting for a real healer for the longest time. Now that two have been announced, I am really looking forward to seeing how it affects the game.
     
  7. So far, I'd say Paladin is the better class. It takes longer, at least when playing solo, to kill monsters with Healer class; really was hoping Healer class would be like Pirate class where you could switch between skills (e.g. Reload and Flak Shot) or like Ninja class where you could enter a combination of skills to perform a unique attack, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

    Honestly, Healer class is meant for group battles, but it feels unnecessary (other than maybe the Burst of Morale skill which boosts attack) to have a Healer class for group battles since everyone is focused on dealing high DPS. Paladin is useful in more situations, it feels like.

  9. I think Healer class is just terrible compared to Paladin (not sure about large team battles, but certainly terrible when it comes to playing solo or with just a few players). Like I would say the biggest issue with Healer is the cast time; like if you wanted to use Healing Wave to heal yourself or your opponent, you'd have to wait 2 seconds before the skill can actually be cast; so in the critical moment where you're at low health, your enemy can defeat you before you can even cast your skill. And that's not even the only skill with a cast time, since Burst of Morale and Inspiring Light are also plagued by cast time.

    I really think they need to remove the cast time for Healer class.
