Game Plan

    Not too long ago the AQ3D team put up a list of goals they want to accomplish for 2018 called the Game Plan and every item has their own progress bar. What are some items from that list you really want them to tackle (or are excited for) and why?


    Bank Previews and Bank sorting: This will come handy if you don't remember how an item looks like and it's been sitting in your bank for a long time, instead of taking it out and equipping it you can preview it as if it was in your inventory.

    Live Multi-server events: I'm not sure what this means but it sounds interesting. Like a live musical event or normal event but with all the players online on both servers having an effect?

    Alpha Pirate class: Excited to see how the animations will look with the skills on this class.

    Exploration Achievements: It'd be cool if they gave us badges for collecting secret artifacts hidden around the game. Like 2/100 Cysero's Socks found

    Achievements are definitely what AQ3D needs because i do like to go for them and bank sorting will be handy to have.

    i would be glad if bank sorting and previw directly from bank vault is available... it would be easier for us while choosing our costume

    Would probably say the rest of the Kickstarter features since it's been about 2 years. Other than that, some of the storyline areas (particularly Doomwood) where the progress is at 100% could use a bit of revision.

    kickstarter weapons going public, learning how each person creatively wants them placed in the game, that'll be a party. how are they going to fit that many weapons uniquely as in where do you find it? it's all in their kickstarter docs

    There's no announcement on that, and even if there was, there would likely be push backs on the date of release. And quite frankly, Beta Berserker as a class isn't really necessary considering we already have a Beta Berserker armor and a regular Berserker class. Not really innovative to have a class that's a skin to an existing class (i.e. regular Berserker class), if you ask me, and it would be much like what Alpha Pirate is to Pirate, but less special.

    But knowing players, they'll want it anyway, even though it'll be no different than the current Berserker class we have.

    Bank pets would be a mess, especially when you accidentally click on your pet while in the middle of a battle or adventure. And other than that, some players are more attached to certain pets than others, so they would have to constantly switch out of their favorite pet just to access the bank, and that seems inconvenient, even for players in AQWorlds. Honestly, aside from monetization (from the company's point of view), why not just have the bank accessible anywhere you are, with just a simple hotkey, or in your main menu? It would be a better quality of life feature than a bank attached to a pet. AQ3D doesn't have to model itself exactly after AQWorlds, especially when AQWorlds itself already suffers from a lot of quality of life issues that players have been talking about for years, and some have even been fixed in non-AE open-sourced projects like AQLite.

    You can't interact with pets when you are in combat so that wouldn't be a problem. A hotkey for bank? That's just wishful thinking.

    It's the overworld interaction that'll be a constant nuisance, not necessarily combat. For instance, maybe you're trying to click on a monster just to get it into target and your pet is in the way. Or maybe you're trying to interact with objects in the game, like lowering roots or opening a door, and the pet is in the way. It would just kill the experience of the game, when things like that happen and what ends up happening is the bank menu opening up to your inconvenience. The fact is that there's not really a lot of screen space in AQ3D like there is in AQWorlds, because the screen always has your character in focus, while in AQWorlds, the game captures all of the environment in a single room.

    Even arguing that players should be careful how they interact with their screen, it wouldn't really be a good excuse. It's already hard to control your character when you're doing parkour on a small device, so to have a pet that walks close to the buttons you're clicking on while doing strenuous activities, that would definitely disrupt gameplay. And a hotkey itself wouldn't necessarily solve the issue either, because mobile players can't use that functionality.

    Just having a button called Travel Bank in the main menu (that both PC and mobile players can use), and letting PC players have an extra option to access it as a hotkey would be a better alternative, and it would eliminate the need of ridiculous click-event pets in the first place. It's not really wishful thinking, because it's all about finding a better solution for quality of life features, and AE could just as easily monetize it (such as by locking the button, maybe it would be grayed out or something, and then require players to pay 900 DCs or become Guardian to unlock the function of the button), if they really wanted to go that route, but I'm sure it'll cause a riot when players start arguing about the monetization of quality of life features.

    The whole point is, some ideas seem great on paper, but in actuality, it's an entire mess to wrangle with, so considering alternatives isn't that farfetched. It's often why we see ideas displayed in the game plan, but the final step of that feature ends up being completely different than anticipated. Expecting everything to go to plan is what I would consider wishful thinking, because not everything turns out perfectly. In fact, all that the game plan really is, is just a wishlist of ideas for AE to try out in their own sandbox of features, and oftentimes those features are heavily lackluster (just look at fishing for instance). If AE does end up implementing bank pets, it'll likely be released as an oversight with a lot of players complaining about how the feature is a mess since AE tends to skip the testing process quite often. Bank pets wouldn't be so bad, initially, but when you play the game for several hours throughout several days, you'll find it annoying to mistakenly click on your pet from time to time, and that's not the sort of experience that players deserve, especially if they paid for their pet with actual money.
