By chance has support and development for Living Avatars changed to vBulletin exclusive or will it continue to be supported among all the majority forum softwares i.e. vB, phpBB, IPB, SMF, etc..?

The plan is to support phpBB 3 and SMF 2. Not sure about IPB yet as I am unfamiliar with it

I have what is probably a stupid question: why do we need a gif and png version of each image? And is there a way we could use, say, the gif as a preview image in one size (e.g. if it were a hairstyle, you could have an image of the hair on the head so you could see what it looks like) and use the png as the image you actually add to the avatar (so you could use partial transparency, for example)?

    Oh good lol.

One of my biggest problems is that I have made all the images 250 x 250px so that when they are added they automatically go to the right place. Some of them were so small it was difficult to place them correctly.
I have changed the preview size to 250 x 250 so that smaller items can be seen clearly but it would be handier if the two images could be used for different things - one for the preview and one to go on the actual avatar.

From the looks of the code, PNG support was added after, it wasn't originally used to use pngs.

I can make it an option in the admin panel to use the .gifs as the Pack images and the png as the actual image that you use when editing the avatar
Scratch that, looks like it already uses the .gifs already for display and png's for the avatars...

Browsers still have inconsistencies when it comes to layering PNG files over each other in the canvas. Hence why GIF files are used for the avatar canvas and then the output file uses the smooth slick PNG files to layer down as it saves.

Oh yes, I've just tried this out with a partially transparent image.

It would have been nice to have different preview images for each item though.

Well, got some interest in it last week. Whether that happens depends on it being bought or me eventually learning how to code and just doing it myself:).
