Miner Wars is a six degrees of freedom game that takes place in the space surrounding our solar system.

The game is currently in early beta stage and is approaching an open beta.

Earth's remaining resources (in the era of Miner Wars) will only suffice for ten years. The resources is the asteroid belt could suffice for millions of years. The many factions of Earth realize this, and have constant battles over the resources in the asteroid belt. There are factions ranging from simple mining corporations to government-run militaries to space pirates.

The gameplay ranges from quiet mining inside completely destructible asteroids to battles that can contain (as of alpha game) 300 ships.

The developer team originally started with the lone Marek Rosa and stayed like this for two years. Recently, it has expanded into the developer now known as Keen Software House. It now has 30+ employees. Much of the content in Miner Wars is thought of and created by the fans.
