For me, RuneScape has always been about accessibility, choice and interaction.

With RuneScape you have the freedom to play where you want. You don't need a top end graphics card or a HD-ready display. You can still play on a computer that was bought 6 years ago. But that's only one part of the accessibility. It's also aimed at people across the age-range. By making a game that they want to play, the Gower's and the JAGex staff who have worked along side them created a game that everyone can and does play. From the newest member's of the community signing on in India, to the oldest players whom Andrew knew personally, it caters from them all. In addition they ensure a safe community for all ages, making pains to while providing a deepening plot and storyline to those who wish to explore it.

Choice is a principle of the game. Sure I can compete with the best to become top on the high-scores. But I could also merchant and barter my way towards wealth and items of power. Others see their glory in competing against others in duels and battles that provide a dynamic and fast moving system. Groups also spend time hunting down a penguin lurking in the snow or battling fearsome enemies in the most far-reaching of places. The game is yours to play, a canvas on which to draw what you want to see. Completing quests that probe the history of characters in the world or just being able to equip a precious piece of armour.

A social experience, RuneScape also provides interaction with people around the world. Through it I've met people from the USA, South America, Norway as well as others in England and the rest of the UK. Tens of thousands of gamers sharing thoughts and hopes, having fun in a virtual world which offers an escape from reality, but educates users in economics, provides team-working skills and allows cultures to intermingle. Whether I'm providing technical support to someone I've never met, or teleporting across the map to lend an item to an old friend, it's an experience that will stay with me. Pursuit of levels is an amazing goal, but the conversations have been the true magic of the game. Few other games can match RuneScape on the previous characteristics. Of those however, none has the size that it does. With one of the worlds largest forums containing over 370 million posts, an active account base of around 10 million and over 375 million accounts created, RuneScape dwarfs most games in size. That's alot of players. I'm sure I shall be one of them for months to come.

    Runescape

Runescape is to me a unique game. It serves as a platform to allow me to get in touch with my primary school friends. Runescape unlike many other games have a good in game chat system. The quests that Runescape have a written like a storybook, the more i delve into it, the longer i will spend doing that. Their seasonal events are done extremely well as my friends who have "quit" Runescape always look forward to it and always would start playing all over again.

What do I like most about RuneScape?

I would say the #1 best thing about RuneScape, for me, is the community.
If RuneScape lacked the community it has, the game would not even be half as attracting to many, including me. By being able to interact in such an open manner with the surrounding players you are able to create a stronger game experience. Without the interactions of others there wouldn't be half as much fun killing boss monsters or playing mini-games. This open community also allows great amounts of input for Jagex to work off of. Open interactions among the players allow ideas to culminate and create something better and more grand.

Well I am a loyal player of runescape since the classics 2002, over the years, the 10 main things that makes runescape the epic game(and why I like this game) are
    1. Epic contents of this game
    2. Don't have to download to play
    3. Well balanced combat triangle
    4. a lot of things the game teaches you that can be related to real life(teaches common sense)
    5. well standing at varrock square and falador those years typing buying and selling messages has improved my typing speed greatly.
    6. Player oriented games such as castle wars, fist of guthix, fishing trawlers really improved team work skills and organization skills.
    7. a variety of things in the games to do that makes the game fun unlike other mmorpgs that just focus on one area, runescape pretty much covered it all.
    8. the effort Jagex did to stop RWT is excellent
    9. Jagex's effort in helping out new players by making tutorials and such.
    10. the music system that Jagex putted in game was very unique, personally, I enjoyed it:D

I love RuneScape SO MUCH!!! I am on it like almost everyday!!! I sometimes tell my friends to join it too because it is 3D and it has awesome graphics. Plus Jagex Moderators are keeping runescape safe and no innapropriate language. I got to say this is one epic game. too me i say this game is much more better the World of warcraft because in world of warcraft its hard to level up but in runescape you get a tutorial and also they give free ranged equipment and a sword and a wooden shield after the tutorial, also they give a bronze pickaxe, tinderbox, and a bronze hatchet to u dont have to make money to buy a pickaxe and hatchet. Also how the scimitars, 2h's, and longswords look. My opinion is that those swords look terrific and the sharp edge look to it.

    My Opinions In List.

-can play right on the browser
    -awesome sword looks
    -HD mode looks awesome
-you can use standard detail in resizeable mode
-AND the jagex moderators and player moderators that keep runescape safe of spam and innopropriate language

My favorite part of Runescape is the questing. There's a wide variety of storylines--from quirky and comical to dark and serious, and everything in between. It's so easy to immerse oneself.

I mean, take Curse of Arrav. Your goal is to steal one of the most heavily-guarded prizes in Runescape from an evil necromancer mahjarrat. The corridors are full of human-detection traps. You can sneak through the sewers, but there's an electric current that zaps you to death as soon as you touch the water. And even if you get through those, the zombies patrolling the inner corridor will catch you and raise the alarm. If you can sneak by the zombies, you still have to get through the combination lock, which will set off sleeping gas if the code is entered incorrectly. After that, the floor of the final room is crisscrossed with magical laser beams that roast you if you touch them, and on the other end is Arrav's heart, which can't be removed from the pedestal on which it sits without killing him. Your task? To steal the heart and use it to break the spell on Arrav and set him free from Zemouregal's mind control. Yeah, good luck, pal.

Or Darkness of Hallowvale, where you journey into the heart of the Vampyre lands to aid the resistance movement. The slums of Meiyerditch are horrifying. There's just this atmosphere of futility and despair. All the humans are ghostly pale because of all the blood that's been drained from them. They're kept in disgusting slums and harvested like cattle, or else enslaved in underground mines and worked until they collapse from exhaustion. And it's not just that--there's so much detail. You can see malnourished puppies wandering the slums. There are bucket spawns that you can't even pick up because they smell so disgusting--possibly the closest thing to a toilet you'll ever find in Runescape. There are leaves and dust that blow in the wind. There's the sheer number of vampyre sentinels patrolling the skies of the city, if you can truly call it any kind of city--besides an atrocity.

And then you have the lighter quests, like Great Brain Robbery, which cheerfully juxtaposes zombies and brain surgery. Or My Arm's Big Adventure, where you teach a troll how to plant a garden. Or Cold War, where penguins are plotting to take over the world.

    Quests are awesome.

What Do I Like Most in Runescape

I've always enjoyed RPGs and Runescape is that exactly. Spending time to get that one last level is always satisfying. I've had my account for several and I'm quite proud to where I've gotten it. But mainly in Runescape I love the community and the ability to connect with many new and interesting people. It's an excellent to just make new friends and have a good online time. That's mainly what I enjoy about Runescape.

    Unique

    Hey,
What I enjoy the uniqueness of Runescape from other games. :D

First of all, you can play it from any computer with a decent internet connection (and even Dial-up if you have the patience for it). :D

The Skills layout is completely different from other popular games (I'm thinking mainly WoW), the fact that you can be the absolute worst at combat, but still enjoy a great deal of the game! (and in Stealing Creation you need both Skillers and Killers). :)

This game is the game that made me realize that Graphics aren't key (they sure help though) it's just the massive playability of everything, for instance, in WoW, once you hit 80, YOU WILL SPEND THE REST OF YOUR DAYS IN DALARAN RAIDING. As for Runescape, first of all you will not just go to certain places/zones depending on your combat level. As for WoW's Raiding vs Runescapes Dungeoning, completely different setup (although I do wish that you could heal with magic before lvl 92 magic), Runescape's dungeons can be really fun. I know this from experience when I brought cheap armour to GWD and got into the Bandos room (along with a dozen other guys),
First of all, I didn't bring any Bandos armour with me when I entered, secondly, I was the lowest leveled guy in the room. So as soon as General Graardor spawned, guess who was automatically elected "Tank". :D

Now, I do not favour Runescape over WoW or vica-versa, I've had extremely fun experiences with both of them. I simply state that both games; apart from being MMORPG's, have very little in common, I don't even see why people compare them anymore, the mechanics of both games are just, totally different.

One last thing, I like Jagex a lot more than Blizzard. Simply because of the how involved Jagex is getting with Runescape (and Bliz's lack thereof).

That's being said, I hope everyone had a good Remembrance Day yesterday, and that everyone has a good Friday the 13th tomorrow. :D

    Cheers,
    Meldrith / <-+=+->7|-|€ G®ã¥ (V)<-+=+->

What I like best about Runescape is the friends you make. I have made several friends there that I consider closer than my friends in real life. When I have a problem I can go to them and they don't judge or look down upon you. You can find great people who are like you and really can mesh together with them. I am married, both me and my husband play, which it is really nice to find more husbands and wives to talk with. We have found several, they are all truly great people who have a deep understanding of respect, confidence, and integrity. We refer to our close runescape friends as our runescape family, everyone there knows how to put a smile on my face and a bounce in my step!

    Runescape

I like runescape because of, like some others said, the fact that there is no set storyline, and you can actually TYPE what you want to say, not choose a phraise from a list. I also like that the level cap is so high at 138 so you can play for a while without being done completely. I like the quests that the f2p people (like me) are able to do, especially The Knight's Sword, because it gave so much smithing xp =). I think that it is really cool that they have buddy lists, and clans, and party drops, as well as all the other bonuses the different worlds sometimes have. I think RS is one of the best games ever made, very well done. I like the different weapons and the armors you can have ( I rock a full addy set). I think that RS was better in the past, around '02 because things were normal, but the new version is good, too.
I also like Duel Arena, because it is SOOOO much fun to duel my friends. All in All, whoever came up with RS is a genius, very good game very well done 20,000,000,000 our of 5.0 rating :D :)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH JAGEX YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why I like Runescape so much

I like runescape becuase their are other people playing with you and it gets really competition around you and competition with getting skillcapes. One of My favorite things to do is Hanging with friends and getting Skillcapes becuase they can help you and them with tips. Without Friends encourging me and or I encourning them is gets easier to accomplished your goals or just getting skillcapes. My friends and I make money together because we find it better because cash can flow in faster with help from your mates. Getting Friends is very hard because some can be a bit weird nd stuff like that etc....
My favorite thing do when training is Ko's... I love them because the cant attack you back so you can save food and those high levels with you godswords. If I dint have any friends i would be hard to get skill up to 99 without encouring me and or other. Getting skillcapes for me means I have master something like 99 agility is very painfull but when you get people like and it wanted because 99 agility and 99 runecrafting are not seen often like others skillcapes. To make serious cash just go battle with your friends so its a bit easier to get alot of cash per hours, and That's why I like Runescape so much. Thanks ;) :D
Thanks you jagex for holding this competition you rock~!~!~!~

Playing for fun, sticking around for the friends...

The thing I like best is the community of friends that I have built over the years. I can log in about any time of day and get a friendly "ello der" from a friend. While I don't know everyone's rl name, I do know them, where they live, what they do for a living, what is going on with their kids (and some grandkids too).

I have played for 5 years and the updates keep me thinking about ways to adapt strategies to further progress. I am primarily a skiller. My first 10 minutes off of tutorial island, I got killed by a cow. Decided that combat wasn't for me and I needed to be a smith. Since that horrible moment, I have applied business models to training skills and have 6 skill based 99's (and mage too). Working on cape number 8 and looking forward to hosting my next 99 party.

The makers of Runescape really care about their product. They put time and effort into complex problems to make the game better and control ther cheaters. But the thing that keeps me logging in are my rs friends.

I started playing only about 3 years ago. At the time when the Capes of Achievement and Goats game update. So far I have only been in the Free to Play community.

    What I love about Runescape....

    Mini games:
-The mini games are wow. The multiplayer mini games like Clan Wars and Great Orb Project allow players to work as a team to ensure victory against the other team.
-As for the player versus player mini games like Fist Of Guthix and Duel Arena pit the skills of the individual player against another.

Random Events: Who doesn't like them? They are almost like free experience points and takes little effort to complete!

Quests: Although the F2P quests are easy, they still offer a slight level of difficulty to challenge the newer players of the game.

Skills: This is actually one of the most important aspects of the game as without the skills there will be almost nothing to do in the game itself.

Community: Well most of the people in the Runescape community are friendly, outgoing and are willing to help others in need.

I think that is pretty much all of it.

    No Matter Where You Go

The best thing about Runescape, the most amazing thing about this game is that no matter what time it is where you live, no matter where you are in game, no matter how many coins are in your bank, there is something fun going down just a few clicks away.

The sheer amount of content that customers get for such a small price is just astounding. I've been playing the Runescape for 3 years or so now, I have a quest cape and all the diary equipment, and I'm still finding new areas to explore, new music to unlock, and new content to play.

Thanks to Jagex and GameOgre for giving us this opportunity to thank the developers and designers for their hard work.

    Why L1ke2ON1njas loves RuneScape!

RuneScape -- Ahh, the name just sounds cool. When I think of runes, I conjure up images of ancient medieval times, magic, and a deep, rich story-line about some evil sorcerer.
When I get on my computer to play RuneScape, I do so because I want to get away. RuneScape allows me to go to my "other" life; a life where I can do almost anything I want! I can train a number of skills, challenge myself with multiple quests, and chat it up with some of my friends. I love getting on and playing with the friends I know in real life. RuneScape allows me to communicate with them while spending time with them (and training skills or making money! ;)). Tens of mini-games and other activities keep me occupied while playing. But one of my favorite things to do lately are the Achievement Diaries. I wish Jagex could release more! ;P The rewards are awesome and I can learn more about the area. Going back to my "other" life, I enjoy taking care of animals that resemble the ones I actually own. RuneScape allows me to have virtual versions of my dog - a yellow lab - and my cat.
Seeing as RuneScape is only $5.95 (I lost the $5 price only shortly ago.. :() is very affordable and, now that I think of it, you're crazy not to be a Member! You get SOOO much extra content; namely, a world AT LEAST 4 times in size, 100+ new quests, several new skills, and more achievement diaries. The graphics of RuneScape are another high point. This game requires ZERO download, yet I can choose to play in HD -- full-screen, even. Speaking of options, the graphical settings you are presented with are tremendous! If you have a low-end machine, then SD is for you. If you have a gaming computer, HD/Full-screen is the right choice! Personally, I play in HD with all settings at max and in full-screen, but that's just personal preference. :p
All of these great features, plus almost all the ones I didn't mention, are what make RuneScape great. Community, Entertainability, and Level of Fun are the three biggest reasons to play RuneScape. It's no wonder I've been playing for 6 years now (on-and-off due to funds) and have 56 Days of in-game time. Jagex, keep doin' what you do! You make great games! And thank-you GameOgre for hosting this contest so we might be able to show our appreciation. :)

P.S. If anyone wants to hangout or chat in-game, my current display name is: L1ke2ON1njas. That's ones for I's, and a capital O for the zero in twenty.

RuneScape...what is there not to say about this game...

When you are trying to critique a game, I believe a major question you have to ask is "What's the incentive to come back?" Why should one, who has been hacked and lost everything, who has done every quest, mastered every skill...what reason does that person have to continue playing?

In RuneScape, there is not a clear answer. The answer is different for each person and cannot be experienced vicariously. One must play the game for him or herself to understand what the answer is for them. Nonetheless, in general, there are obviously some things that Jagex has implemented (some very recently! ;)) that add up to a recipe for success: great customer support, listening to the players, participating in player-run events, and of course, the consistent and (almost) impeccable updates. However, there has to be more than these simple things turn short-term players into loyal players.

For me, the answer…is very lame and simple :p. I am lured back by the prospect of 99 EVERYTHING! Lol…but seriously, this is no joke - I am part of a clan, and in this clan there are many players who display the same determination as I do. This is also part of what I like best: the competition among players. I believe part of human nature is the natural ability to be competitive; therefore, a driving incentive for me is the fact that “Ok today, I have this level of whatever, and he has 2 levels higher…I wanna get to his level so bad!”

Now I have to consider the criticizers of my reasoning. Call this an addiction, call me a no-lifer, say whatever; the fact of the matter is that I am still in high school, where the grades are tough to maintain and college apps are looming around the corner. Regardless of my “attraction” if you will to RuneScape, I have to create a great balance between real life and the game. And this, my friends, is THE best part about the game…the freedom it gives you, the ability to play whenever and wherever you want, and of course however way you want (RPG duh :)). This especially relates to me: the school I’m at loans the students a Macbook; this thing’s specs are terrible, and I wouldn’t able to play most games on here. But with RuneScape’s gameplay that comes directly from the browser and requires little specs, even this crappy old Macbook is able to run RS smoothly. For me, folks, these small, simple details are the things that separate good games from great games.

Well there you have it: my anonymous life story (ironic much? :p). Thanks for reading, and I hope for the best!
