WoW vs. LotRO - MMORPG Showdown

I prefer World of Warcraft despite Lord of the Rings Online being f2p.

i say LOTRO since its f2p...

 

LotRo gets my vote. Due to the fact JRR Tolkien (The author of the book series, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.) is the father of all modern fantasy. Everything from D&D to WoW copies what Tolkien started in the 1930s.

 

I went for LOTRO personally, not having gotten into the WoW craze. The fact that they swapped to a free option definitely won over my vote.

I tied the voting. To me, LOTRO is not that interesting. The PvP was pretty stupid the last time I played.

 

SO tough comparing.... I love both of the games....

Though I will vote WoW because i am playing this for longer time than lotR.....

 

I played both, played WoW once it released, paused it a few years, started again for a couple of months, then paused again and played it 2 months ago for 1,5 Months, then i switched to LotrO for a good reason.

As i played WoW at last i was after all those shiny axhievements and Quests, which kept me playing every minute i had in my spare time. It was great fun but it was also addictive like crazy, and i let down other things like my GF and Hosehold. I fact i always knew it was crazy but i wanted to make that race jo matter what.
I broke down once i realized that i need raid groups and a teammate to get Even access to the Arena and Raid achievements.
The Problem is that WoW aims for MMO which is not a bad thing, it just ties me 2-3 Hours to the PC without beeing able to quit the Group. Because if i do they will never intive me again, the WoW community is a bad ass one which is ruthless. You dont jain the maddness ur out. No excuses, u just earn a lol and a kickout if you start excusing yourself.

So that was the major reason why i quit WoW. But tzeres also another one.

WoW is just a big joke if you try to see it logicall. Goblins and Gnomes have invented rockets and bombs you could even blast half Kalimdor away with thekmbut they dont use it. In BC they have Technology to make a bio capsule on Netherstorm. The Draenai are Aliens coming to the world with a Spaceship. You have a flight machine as mount or a bike or a Rocket, Quests where you bomb down mobs for 12500k damage at lvl55 and we still fight ourselfs with swords and daggers.

A big lawl for that. Its just nonsense, everyone knows it and no one cares, thats how the real world will die once.

In Lotro everything feels easier, theres no reason to rush, the items you can craft in the end are near similar to those you can get in the raid zones, so theres no need to worry about not getting a raid grp since its just not needed to chellenge with the best.

The biggest pont is the atmosphere. Well LotrO is sill fantasy with magic and Monsters, but its way more near reality than WoW is. The morale is way more real. You get quests buriing the dead. No Rockets or scifi Inventions, No Guns or Rifles. Bikes, Flight machines. Its way more medieval than WoW.

I think WoW just forgot that its a Fantasy MMORPG and trys to match up with Starwars.

In Lotr i was in that Village when a guild came in with 5 Players on horses riding past me, it just looked great, like in a movie. Thats a moment which i never realized in WoW, serious.

For the better atmosphere and for the non group-forced gameplay i vote for LoTrO, and the Graphics are way better also.

 

xd that is a good point about the grouping system, but about the tech and stuff, one thing that i always thought was a genuise idea was a like tech vs. magic/nature or wateva. like avatar i think they just wanted to add some cool stuff that people can go cool mount or wateva
