A MMORPG on Facebook? I know that Runes of Magic started in there and that's about it.

I never went in-game to change my name, but I did change it from "Koremi" to "Chai" in the AQ3D account page. I've never considered my previous in-game name's actual meaning, like the NPC's name "Exvidius," for example. To be honest, I just wanted the name's spelling to look appealing enough. And I used to be alright with it until I took consideration into the AE Twitch staff pronouncing it differently. I'd pronounce Koremi as Kôr rem mē ("Kor" as in "door"; "rem" as in "gem" or "red"; and "mi" as in "me"). What also made me think of changing my name was when somebody told me that my IGN means "I'm not tired." Plus, I had a dude pestering me in-game via PMs from time to time, so that was the tipping point in having my name changed to "Chai."

I wanted the name "Chai" because the name is short, I liked the way it's spelt, and its pronunciation is straightforward. Though, I kinda felt a bit bad when Wov told me that they missed and liked my old name better.

I never changed it, and I wouldn’t, I’ve been using VideoVillain for over 20 years now, lol.

also, what happens to your friends? Do they get a notice of the change even? Or do you just seemingly “disappear” for them unless they know it’s you somehow?

I think a good way of keeping track of friends, especially when they change their name, is to keep a list somewhere. Then when you don't recognize a name, you can refer to that list and look for the difference, but generally nobody really does that. And I've never changed my username, but I know that people who do change their name aren't always recognized, especially if they aren't active enough. But usually, when those people are very active, people will recognize them, probably by the way their character looks (such as if they have a very distinguished set). A name doesn't really change anything in terms of personality and who you are, it just changes what people call you by.
