The biggest surprise for video game players and the game industry does not come from either Sony or Microsoft, but from Tencent in China. After they successful completed their investment in Epic Game through stake acquirement, Tencent has developed a strategic cooperation relationship with industry veteran Capcom. And the first fruition coming out from this union was none other than a new entry of Capcom's hugely successful franchise: Monster Hunter Online

"An unexpected guest, Yoshinori Ono, showed up on the floors of 2013 UP+ Tencent Games annual press conference. While he usually flight around the world attending Street Fighter's events, Yoshinori Ono brought with him a new title beyond any expectation, the Monster Hunter Online. Not only did Yoshinori Ono shows a CG video of the game on Capcom's behalf, a high quality trailer involves in game real time cut scene and gameplay footage was also demonstrated. More exciting information was disclosed soon after: this is an MMO title developed in Cry Engine 3, and Capcom had been preparing this for a long time.

From what we saw from the footage on the show floor, there is little doubt that Monster Hunter Online is the definite entry of the franchise, especially in the graphic department. Not even the latest released MHU3 can match the sheer graphic quality of MHO. By employing Cry Engine 3, the game utilize many features of the latest graphic API to boost its visual power, and the result, from the detailed character and monster model to the lush hunting environment, is indeed satisfying.

We were also glad to see the game retained incredible gameplay depth while making the graphic leap. The die-hard fans would be happy to hear the classic hunting action remain much the same, while the game will add all new monsters and hunting grounds to roster. What's more, older monsters such as Rathian, will be getting new attacks and tricks. Hunters beware, for you will face a bigger challenge than ever before.

A key question, the control, was brought out during the show. According to the source, MHO will support mouse and keyboard as secondary input device. The franchise's control has a reputation of turning off new players in the past (as many will stop playing because how complex the control and camera works in previous titles). If the issue could be resolved without altering the unique feeling of Monster Hunter's combat, MHO will certainly has a more boarder audience.

There was also something else caught our eye, at the end of the footage, we saw Plesioth swim through the ocean and chased by hunters raiding vehicles which resembles sea bikes. Does that mean there will be vehicle hunting in the game?

Finally, it is worthy to point out that MHO might come early than expected, Capcom and Tencent announced together that the game will begin alpha testing in June 2013. It will be the first time a Monster Hunter Title launched outside of Japan. Capcom must be well prepare for this bold move. Maybe at long last, there will be a Monster Hunter game qualify as a truly HD era title. And what makes the game so successful in Japan will finally make its way into the other parts of the world."

Here's a breakdown of the new skin prices with what features you can expect for each skin:

390/520 RP skins

• These are outdated tiers used for skins that only featured texture changes, a new splash image, and at times slight model changes.
• 36 skins in the store at the 975 RP tier will have their prices lowered to 520 RP
• No new skins will be created for these tiers, but existing skins in the store are eligible to be put on sale.
• Example: Loch Ness Cho'Gath, Aviator Irelia

750 RP – New tier

• Skins in the new 750 RP tier feature new texture and model work as well as a new splash image; and some skins in this tier will feature new animations.
• 40 skins from the current 975 RP tier will have their prices lowered to 750 RP
• We expect that 10-20% of skins in 2013 will be released at 750 RP, and they will be eligible to be put on sale.
• Examples: Little Knight Amumu, Explorer Ezreal

975 RP

• 975 RP skins feature a new model, textures and splash image; some skins in this tier will feature new animations, visual effects and sounds where appropriate for the theme of the skin.
• We expect that 50-75% of skins released in 2013 will be 975 RP, and they are eligible to be put on sale.
• Examples: Haunted Maokai, Jade Dragon Wukong

1350 RP

• Skins in the 1350 RP tier will feature a new model, textures, splash image, animations, visual effects and sounds. In some cases, these skins will also have processed voice overs.
• This tier is intended for skins that go above and beyond the quality of 975 RP skins but don't quite reach legendary status.
• 3 skins from the current 1820 Legendary tier will have their prices lowered to 1350 RP
• 18 17 skins from the current 975 RP tier will be moved to the 1350 RP tier
• We expect that 7-15% of skins released in 2013 will be 1350 RP, and they are eligible to be put on sale
• Examples: Blackthorn Morgana, Arcade Sona

1820 RP – Legendary skins

• A legendary skin completely changes the look and feel of a champion.
• These skins feature a new model, textures and splash image as well as completely new animations, visuals, voice over and sounds.
• We expect that 6-10% of skins released in 2013 will be Legendaries, and they will not be put on sale.
• Examples: Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath, Brolaf

3250 RP – Ultimate skins

• An ultimate skin is a complete reimagining of a champion that includes an evolving model and additional features and bonuses, such as summoner icons.
• 3250 RP skins feature a new model that evolves into different forms, textures, splash image, animations, visuals, voice over and sounds, as well as additional content.
• We expect that 2-4% of skins released in 2013 will be Ultimates. They may have initial promotions or discounts, but will not be put on sale.
• Examples: Pulsefire Ezreal

The price changes will all go into effect at 9am PST on April 25, so there is plenty of time to plan any purchases of skins that are impacted. Partial refunds will be automatically granted for all past purchases of the three legendary skins (Astronaut Teemo, Lion Dance Kog'Maw, and Piltover Customs Blitzcrank) that are decreasing in price, as that is a price-protected skin tier. No other refunds will be granted in relation to these changes.

A new client-server patch for the Public Test is now available. Check the final Version 8.5 patch notes in our In Development Section.
Update 8.5 is coming, and it’s time to test the changes! The World of Tanks development team needs to conduct a thorough test and they want you to take part.

The development team want to make the game as good as possible and getting your feedback is a big part of that. Taking part in the public test is your chance to let us know your thoughts and suggestions on forthcoming updates. This means we can review your feedback and make any further changes before the update goes live.

All World of Tanks players are eligible to take part in the public test as long as they registered before 11th April 2013. You don’t need to be an experienced tester to join in; you just need to be willing to try out as many of the new features as you can and send us your feedback!



Main Features of Version 8.5

A new branch of German medium and light tanks.
A new line of USSR light tanks.
A new Asian map named “Pearl River".
Reworked graphics for Siegfried Line, South Coast and Malinovka.
Premium consumables are now available for credits.
Added additional matchmaking rule to keep the balance of scouts in both teams.


How the Public Test Works

When it is time to run a public test, the developers will release a test version of the client. This can be downloaded by following the instructions below. Make sure that you follow all of the instructions carefully, so that you don’t accidentally cause problems to your main play account.

Your test client account will usually be a copy of your play account, meaning that all the vehicles purchased and research that you have completed will be the same. However, please note:

The test account is completely separate to your normal account. Achievements and research that you complete on the test client will not be carried over to your play account.
Financial transactions are not possible on the test server and payments will not be accepted.
Depending on the needs of the test, your test account may be credited with gold, credits or experience.
The test server is subject to the same EULA and general rules as the World of Tanks game server. This means that you still need to play nice, or face the usual consequences just the same as on the official game server.
All test accounts will receive a one-time credit of:
100,000,000 free XP
100,000,000 credits
20,000 Gold
The rate of credits and experience gain will not be increased for this test.


Feedback

Once you have logged into the test client, you are encouraged to play as much or as little as you want. Feel free to try out all the new features and see what you can do!

Once you have been playing for a while, please let us know your feedback by posting to these special forum threads: The first is for bug reports and the second is for general feedback about the test version. The community managers will collect up all your responses on the thread and send them to the developers.

The sort of feedback we are particularly interested in includes:

Any bugs or glitches that you have found in the game. Got stuck in the scenery? Game crashes when you do a certain action? Tell us all about it!
Honest feedback about vehicles and game mechanics. If you think something doesn’t function well, then please tell us.
Anything you particularly like? Do you love the new stats for a previously underpowered vehicle? Confirm to the developers that the community is now satisfied with that feature, letting them focus on other new improvements.


How to Join the Public Test

Eager to get going? Follow the instructions below to join the test!

Download the test client installer.
Make sure you pick a save location that is different to your regular World of Tanks game files. Save and run the installer. (9.2 MB)
Run the new copy of the game. The launcher will download all the additional data (4.5 GB).
Log in and start playing. Remember to post your feedback to this forum thread.


Please be aware of the following:

In order to make the test experience more efficient, it may be necessary to limit the number of players on the test server. . If the server is full when you log in, you’ll be placed into a queue.

The test server will be restarted every day at 7:00 CEST (GMT +2). Average duration will be around 25 minutes.

The test server may be subject to unscheduled restarts and maintenance.

And of course, remember that it is a test server! This means that you may encounter bugs and temporary features. Everything in the test version could change before the final release.

The EU office was overwhelmed with how cool some of the birthday cards were. The contest lasted several weeks and towards the end of March we asked you all to keep those birthday cards coming! You certainly did! A few short days after the contest ended, we were all blown away by the last minute postal delivery we received from our beloved Tiger 2, Fritz.
