BatMUD

BatMUD is built around a medieval fantasy theme in which magic is common and orcs, elves and various other creatures roam the streets. The Game is loaded with quests, scenic areas, diabolic monsters and unfathomable treasures. The world is constantly being developed and the players themselves can build majestic cities and engage in trade. Become a mighty warrior, slaying the hordes of undead with your fierce axe, or perhaps You would like to take the shape of a dark cultist, relying on his evil deity to supply him unearthly powers. The possibilities are endless...

Comment: One of the best if not the best MUDs around. Has been going strong from 1990. Huge content and great variety of player classes to choose from with lots of different races and all such. If you dont mind using the best graphics engine ever built (your imagination) then this is your choice.
