Comment: This was the first mmorpg I picked up and when I first played it I was really impressed. The graphics and the scenery are amazing, and I could spend hours just wondering around a particular area admiring the scenery. The class system was really well designed and has set Guildwars apart from all other mmorpgs. The game is really easy to pick up and the tutorials are very clear and put you straight in the action. I also liked the backstory and really immersed myself in the lore of the game (something I haven't done with any game since).
The backstory also comes at a price, for in order to proceed; you have to follow the storyline, which makes the game quite constrictive. This isn't helped by the game being mostly instanced. Although this does reduce lag and protect players from abuse, it practically destroys the social aspect of the game. This is fine for solo players but I like to group with other people, not just NPCs.
the gear and crafting systems were interesting and while I never felt like I had crafted anything (I just traded the items for the piece of gear I wanted) I really liked being able to dye my armour any way I liked.
I would probably have stayed playing GW if it wasn't for the lack of PvE end-game. so you spend maybe months completing the campaigns and what do you get for it? The chance to do all the missions again in "hardmode". I couldn't believe it at first, and looked everywhere vainly trying to find something else. Apart from the challenges (which are fun the first time you do them) there was nothing.
With such a lack of end-game PvE, I look to PvP to fulfil my needs. Make a customisable PvP character and go straight into PvP? Absolutely brilliant! The casual PvP is great, but even try and get into Heroes Ascent and you'll be smacked down as a noob. I have never met such an elitist community in my entire mmo career. In order to get anywhere, you have to have a certain rank, and in order to get this rank, you have to PvP in this section. This means you either have to find a guild to help you through, or get really lucky with a random group.
The insistance on cookie cutter builds was unbelievable, and if you didn't have the cookie cutter build, you were a complete noob. To combat this, the developers regularly nurfed and buffed various skills to kill off a particular build. The players would then discover what worked and that became the next cookie cutter build. And so the cycle went on.
Despite this, GW PvP was refreshing in the fact that everyone had access to the same gear, so it was up to skill and teamwork to decide who won in a fight. This made the game much more enjoyable to play than other games which focused mostly on gear.
In summary, a good game with nice graphics and a well thought out system, but lacking in community spirit. But despite this, for a F2P mmorpg, it’s still the best you can have.

Comment: I've been playing since beta. So about 5 years. My account is just a little over 58 months.(not sure what day) It is really one of the best free MMORPG's around.. And I've gone threw tons and tons of diffrent F2P MMORPG's just so I could play something else for a little while. Factions, Night Fall, Eye Of North and the Normal Guild Wars it self are just wow. :) Only way you could want to quit GW is because your staying in one area to long and aren't really continuing on with the story line / quests. The Population has gone down a little but not a ton. I guess it's a game where you have to set goals. I left GW once for only a few months because I felt like I had nothing to do. (because I'm a noob at heart xD ) But there are so many titles to go for. Amazing armor for most classes and well there is each class to play. If you have all the GW there are 10 diffrent classes to play? I'm sure you will find something you like. Plus GW2 should be coming out anytime now.. =w= but yeah 10/10 more if I could. Plus add me in game ;) "Kaden Kills"

Comment: overall, I thinks it's a great game, the gameplay is quite ifferent from other free mmo's in that you play through a strong story completing missions, which take you to new areas of the map. each area will have around one or two major cities and a fair few outposts, here its like a normal mmo complete quets for money and stuff.Though there really isn't much challange to the quests, beacuse you mini map has a green arrow pointing in which direction you need to go. the combat system is interesting, unlike games like wow and other mmo's you can only have 8 skills on your skill bar and your gameplay is generlly dictated by what skills you have. Unlike, say wow where you specilise whith your talents, in GW you are free to change when ever you want unlike other games you dont get a number of skills each level you will have certain amount skills availbe to you in a certain area. when you get to an other area you will get some different skills, aswell as the others. But in my opinion, pve isnt where gw excells,it's in pvp, the pvp system becomes availbe to you at level 2o (top lvl) and from there you can really get involved there are around 5 or six different types of pvp arenas two choose from, but there are anual events which you can enter, also, you get gvg where you and your guild can challange another guild to a fight this can either be a ranked fight, where the outcome of the fight decides you ranking on the guild ladder. but rather than one character joining a guild, its more your account joins the guild, this means that some things you do on one character will affect another of your characters. overall its very good game, the graphics are excellent better than most p2p games. The community is alright, most players will help you, but generly most arent that talkative. It does get a litte boring after a while beacause a lot of the missions are very hard to do, unless you get a better character to run you through it. But well worth a try. One word of advise though, if you do start playing, JOIN A GUILD! its not worth buyin a guild then spending 12k and a load of faction (pvp points) on a guild hall and aload on a guild cape. so save yourself the effort and when you see someone advertsing a guild, dont be afraid to ask to join!

Comment: Graphics - 7/10 - These graphics would be considered pretty outdated nowadays, but they work. Sound - 8/10 - The monster and character sounds can be annoying at times, but the music is nice. Gameplay - 9/10 - Although there is not that much variability between running into different maps killing monsters or spamming missions, the gameplay is nice and normally makes you want to buy the other campaigns to experience a different feel. Community - 9/10 - The community is generally very nice, although you will encounter an assholes sometimes (especially in PvP). The best part is that you don't have to play with the community if you don't want to. Total - 8.25/10 - This game is worth the $20, and if you want better PvE, get Nightfall for $30, and Factions for $20-$30 for better PvP.

Comment: Here's my review on this amazing MMORPG! Guild Wars has been around for years and has never left any sad minds. Guild Wars mixes PVP, solo play, MMORPG and MMO into an amazing combination. Guild Wars, this is only my third week playing, but I can tell you from the day I bought it, I loved it! Guild Wars has exciting action packed gameplay, awesome quests, fun storyline, amazing pvp, and so on. And for what? A little payment of MAXIMUM 50 dollars, depending on what you get. Prices varie! I've acquired Guild Wars Prophecies with the expansion of Eye of the North, which prepares you for Guild Wars 2! More races, more classes, more action, more fun! Basically, Guild Wars is a MUST have game! An amazing Christmas Present to any gamer out there! I guarantee satisfaction! If you like dungeons and fast-paced, easy! If you don't find a party of real people, NPCs that are actually strong and helpful can join your party and you can quest out in dungeons and zones to beat many monsters and accomplish quests! The fast-paced action is amazing! Killing is fast and efficient, but strategy is needed at a point! Also, your HP and MP is restored gradually even when fighting! No need for potions to restore that! It restores on its own! Plus, NPCs can help you by healing and so on while you're questing in dungeons, zones, etc. The classes are amazing. Here's some of my ratings: Graphics: 10/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Storyline: 10/10 PvP: 10/10 * PvE: 10/10 Action: 10/10 AND IT'S AFFORDABLE! *PvP: Note, there are Guild vs. Guild, Player vs. Player and even dungeon instances! AT ANY TIME! There is PvP even at level 1! You can choose to make a PvP only Character or a Role playing one! Guild Wars deserves 10000000.../10! PLAY IT! IT'S A MUST!

Comment: I LOVE THIS GAME. This is the best most innovative mmorpg i have ever played, and ive played a lot. The number one complaint it the low level cap(level 20) but this prevents hours upon hours of dreadful grinding. Status instead is gained through the games huge variety of titles. This game is a MUST BUY. You can even add me if your starting out and need help, IGN: Haara The Stranger or Haara the Healer

Comment: By my opinion, definately the best free mmorpg or most likely the best mmorpg period. The graphics are amazing with very customizable options to suit your computer. The player versus player is also one of the greatest systems out there, there are many different ways to compete in pvp. There are many ways to cuztomize your character with many sets of armor and many different types of weapons. This game is easy to play and fun, nothing aggrivating about it. I did play WoW for a little while and if i would have to say so myself ( WoW is a great game, but i hate the fee) the Guild Wars is more fun to play

Comment: Guild wars gets super confusing and boring after a while of playing. I quit because I didn't know how to get any good items or actually have some fun with it. Plus, there's pretty much no communitty at all, I didn't even talk to a single person in through the whole month i was playing it, for a $30 dollar game thats ridiculous. I would only buy this game if someone i knew played this game, but just to learn it by yourself, no chance.

Comment: Well, one thing for certain for those WoW vs GW peeps, u cant compare the two games. Yes, they are both RPGs, but besides that, they have a totally different feel. WoW of course is the better game, even though it costs $15 a month (with the money bliz makes, they have no need at all to do $15 a month, but ah well... greedy bastards -_-). But GW is DEFINETLY a great game! And YES, its a F2PMMO!!!!! Yes, you must pay some cash to buy the CD"s to install it, but there ISN"T a MONTHLY FEE, therefore making it a F2PMMO!!!!! Now, onto the ratings! Gameplay: 9/10 Very simple once you get the hang of it. WASD Keys to move or click to move, double click enemies or click + spacebar to attack enemies or pick up loot. Use 1-8 keys for skills and health/energy (mana for WoW-players), etc. One thing i did NOT like was the fact u could only use 8 skills at a time on the bar and could not swap them out while out in explorable areas. I mean, at least include the 9,0,-, and = keys for skills too! You get so many and are limited to 8... not cool. One thing i loved was that Cities and the outside world were instanced. Cities is where u would make a team and get together, and then when u went outside u were in your OWN INSTANCED WORLD, so no ksing faggot nightelves ^_^. Eh, there arnt nightelves... wow joke :P. Sound/Music: 10/10 Great sound effects, when you swung your blade, it sounded like a swinging blade! When you shot a blazing meteor at an enemy, it sound like a blazing meteor being thrown at an enemy! Put simply, the sound effects did what they were supposed to do. Music didn"t interest me until the EotN expansion. Then it had some kick ass orchestral music that definetly sounded professional, kicking WoW"s ass in the music area. Community:9/10 Like every game, you have your helpful kind players who dont mind giving a hand with a quest and then you have those faggots (aka nightelves in WoW) who just like to be jerks :/. Graphics: 10/10 For a F2PMMO, INCREDIBLE!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous graphics!!! And lag is minimum! I have all my graphics up to the max and i still run at around 50fps or more! (even in cities!) Difficulty: 8/10 Kinda confusing... At first, it feels like it is okay to go out and solo in the world. However, that changes when you get to 10 or more levels and your getting owned whenever you leave the city alone. Thank god for henchmen, which are simple NPCs that you can invite to your group like pets. You quickly figure out that Guild Wars is a party-oriented game, so you learn to stick to it like that. Storyline: 10/10 Quite intense and much drama for a F2PMMO. GW is the first MMO that introduced scenario"s and movie-like scenes which includes VOICE ACTING FROM YOUR CHARACTER!!! And thats not all, each expansion pack has an incredible storyline to it (i like nightfall the best atm). It will keep you interested so u keep moving on when u reach the level cap of 20. PvP: 9/10 Indeed it is a good pvp system, tho sometimes you feel like "Wtf am i doing? i cant figure out what build is good, i get pwned in five seconds" etc... besides that, Guild Wars has a great PvP system and you can even create a PvP-only character that starts you off at level 20 so that you can jump right into the PvP element of the game. I am big on WoW PvP, but GW"s PvP is almost as good. Overall: 9/10 Its definetly worth trying. You wouldnt regret spending your money on such a beautiful game. If you"re looking for another RPG game (this closely resembles final fantasy for me), then try this game out. start out with the Prophecies (original) CD to see if u like the game, or if u want to give the game a full try out, buy the trilogy so u can have all classes. (oh, i forgot to mention, GW allows u to mix classes together!!!! its quite an interesting system!) Well, i hope my review has helped you, check out Guild Wars sometime. (Windows only, not for Mac.... yet) (theres also a free trial, so what are u waiting for? give it a shot!)

Comment: Guild Wars is a great game All people who don't like the level cap idea, let me tell you something. Characters are only allowed to get to lv 20. But the monsters have no limit really, so that's an element that makes the game harder. Higher monsters, more damage, more problems for the human players. Yeah, the gameplay is extremely repetitive, but there are plenty of elite areas that offer a whole new side to the game. PVP wise, there is no doubt. They have 5 areas of PVP each with different tactics and builds and strategy. The only repetition in that is you have to win alot for prestigious titles. But you play different people all the time, and that is always something new

Comment: Guild Wars is a masterfully crafted game that is not everyone's cup of tea. At it's core is a very well made, fast paced, deep combat system. The ability to choose a primary and secondary class for your characters, in addition to ease of switching out your abilities and adjusting your point distribution makes the amount of character flexibility astounding. One could argue that in the end it all falls down to standard builds in the end, but this is true of any game. In addition leveling up is very quick and attaining gear is not particularly hard, and so if you desire to try a different class combination then it is quick and fairly painless to do so. The thing to know about this game is that once you get into this game it essentially becomes all about PvP, and this is what will decide if GW is worth your time. That said, there is a PvE/questing portion to the game, but it is in my mind, GW's largest weakpoint. To begin with, it has some very good aspects. All non-town areas are instanced and so you never have to worry about other people interfering with your play experience. Also while playing with a party is basically required, you are able to recruit the help of NPC bots if you prefer to play solo, or simply don't have a full party. This however falls down in the end. The AI is not the greatest, though it has improved immensely since the game's inception, and based on the games complexity the bot AI deserves much respec regardless. In the end though, this means that even with this feature you can only go so far on your own. By the middle-end of the storyline it becomes almost impossible to beat the story missions without a full party of player controlled characters, which can be very hard to find with the speed of leveling. (ie. everyone is busy PvPing at max level) The storyline is pretty decent though fairly short and linear. Its quite good for what it is, but once completed your only options are to do it again on another character, or PvP, which is largely fruitless without a guild, and so again you are forced into being social. The PvP itself is very well balanced and focuses very largely on skill and teamwork more than anything else, but is simply not my cup of tea. In the end Guild Wars is a very good game, but in my opinion not worth it if PvP is not your thing. If your curious the PvE mode alone may be worth your money, but keep in mind that while playing online is free, there are a whole lot of expansions to buy if you want the full experience.

Comment: Guild Wars, what can I say it's a great game. The formula of great graphics, low requirements, low cost and no annoying item mall that allows player to buy there way to the top worked almost perfect. Sale flew and the fan based grow vary rapidly. Almost instantly Guild Wars was named the top competitor to the king of MMO's World of Warcraft. While that war is over and World of Warcraft prevailed yet again Guild Wars put up a tremendous fight and undoubtedly the best fight World of Warcraft has ever had. Guild Wars has amazing graphics and extremely low requirements to run, how did they accomplish this I don't know but the game looks great and runs well on most older computer. Guild Wars also handles lag vary well, it rare to find it lagging so bad it's unbarible. Guild Wars strongest point and weakest point is it's story. While it's story is great and vary well done it's vary linear compared to the traditional MMO, while some people might prefer this way choice is good and it's vary hard to find in this game. Side quest are hidden all over the place but none of them really seem new or different than anything that is in other MMOs. Even with the various side quest you'll cruse though the main story line and quite a few side quest(if you choose to do them)pretty quick which pretty much gets you to the level 20 cap in the process. Another thing I didn't really like about Guild Wars was how armor was setup. Normally you'd get armor from shops, craft it yourself or get it from monster drops. In Guild Wars there the easiest and I believe the best way to get armor is to collect the materials and pay the NPC to make it. Monsters do not drop armor which is kinda frustrating as collecting materials for armor isn't as fun as getting a rare drop. Thankfully they do drop weapons and shields! The world of Guild Wars is huge and it will take you at least 50 hours to see everything. Thankfully your can jump to any city you've been too making travailing around the huge world a lot easier. My biggest grip about the game and this is more apparent now more than ever is lack of players for missions. Missions where setup to be played in a team, it's almost impossible to beat later missions without a team, they have henchmen but they are far from strong enough to help you beat later mission and usually you end up stuck for a couple days because no other players are around to help you. It's becoming a bigger and bigger problem and I hope NCsoft comes up with something to fix it. One of Guild Wars strongest points is PvP, I'm not much of a PvP person but Guild Wars PvP drew me in. In Guild Wars your allowed to either create a PvE player that starts at level 1 for you to progress through the story line or a PvP character that starts at level 20 and can only be used for PvP.(once you get far enough your PvE character can be used in PvP)This is a great feature as it lets you jump into PvP right away without having to spend hours and hours leveling up your character. PvP can be played against a team of NPCs, in randomly selected teams or in teams of your choosing. If your in a Guild you can also(with the guild leaders permission) do Guild vs Guild matches. As you win matches your PvP character gets points in which he can use to unlock new skills. Overall Guild Wars is one of the best games on the market it's in t steady decline right now because of the up incoming Guild Wars 2 but at it's peak it was easily one of the best MMO's ever. Despite some bugs, various missing features(no jumpinging or swimming, lack of armor drops) Guild Wars still gets a 9 out of 10.

Comment: This game owns! There has been an everlasting battle between GW and WoW. I will simplify that right now. SAME attacking system some quests WoW Pros: Higher level cap Easier to level Simpler Bigger World More races More classes Has a more relaxed feel (Pro?) Easy to get addicted to GW Pros: Story! Very good community better graphics Missions Good RolePlaying More complicated but after a while gets instinctive Quests are made easy by the arrow that points u in the rite direction No subscription Not too immersive or life sucking WoW cons Suckish community No overall story, really takes longer to get to the awesome stuff will suck the money and life out of u u have to pay game money for skills GW Cons Level cap of 20 :( tough to level after a while smaller world than WoW not as addicting Well, I probably missed a bunch of stuff, but thats the gist. I personally prefer GW, but whatev, some ppl like 2 blow their $$$ on WoW. Anyways, this a review on GW, not WoW, so now I will start the review. GW Graphics: 10/10 Wow, these graphics are awesome. The best thing about them is that they can play on lower computers and still look cool. Interface: 9/10 Almost perfect. Just a few small confusions at first, but then it was all smooth sailing. Gameplay: 10/10 Could it get any more intuitive? WASD, space or click to attack enemies and then use skills with hotkeys. Nice and simple. Sound: 9/10 Pretty nice, some weird sound effects in certain places. Overall feel: 10/10 More formal than WoW, but I like it. More realistic. Value: 10/10 It"s agreat game all around. If you"ve got thirty bucks, this is a great way to spend it that will last for hundreds of hours.

Comment: Prophecies: This is a great campaign in which i recommend you start off with and helps when trying to complete other campaigns. This is the longest campaign but has the best storyline and the map is connected with expansion EoTN. I found this one a great campaign to start with especially as a hero who comes very useful in other campaigns. This campaign is packed with great missions and quests and especially skills. The skills in this campaign to me are required to make a good PVP build for most classes especially the monk in which no doubt have the best skills in this campaign. Factions: This is my favorite campaign especially since they released 2 new heroes the Assassin and the Ritualist. The Assassin is probably the best PVPer and can make the best spike builds if you know what skills to use. The Ritualist was also a great add and not just is it good at PVE it comes as a very good support in PVP with its wide range if spirits and healing skills it can also replace a monk to heal with the right builds. No doubt about it that Anet focused a heap on the PVP in this campaign in which they released Alliance Battles were you choose or create a party and fight against the enemy faction. Even though i stated they focused more on the PVP system doesn"t mean there PVE system isn"t good with fun quests and he best missions in which some reward useful skills you"ll always have fun. Nightfall: This took all Guild Wars players by storm releasing the new Paragon class. This campaign is packed with a heap of missions and quests. Guild Wars:Nightfall is where most Guild Wars players have moved to and stayed more active on than any other campaign. The Paragon is similar to a spearman, but can be very supportive. Another good thing about the Paragon is that all of its skills are in Nightfall so its a great character to start off with. In this Anet did well to keep players loving PVE with there great quests and new heroes to help you out with quests and in a few missions they can come handy to. Of course Nightfall was the second longest campaign but cant be finished without a party of real players on most missions but still is never too hard and boring for a player to get tired and that is why they did well to keep players going. The skills are great in this game to with a heap of skills more then factions which is useful and can make make great builds especially when combined with prophecies skills. EoTN: This is the expansion of Guild Wars which obviously you never buy first. In the expansion they released a heap of an amount of heroes in which 2 you get after completing the quest your start off with which these heroes are name Ogden Stone healer and Vekk. This wasn"t a big expansion but wasn"t easy to finish and took time and to me definitely needed a party of players for most missions. This was one of the best expansions of an MMORPG I"ve played with great new elite skills in which my favorite was Ursan were you take an aspect of a bear. This is great fun with the new heroes which most are cute or look funny and a very strong with the right skills like most heroes and theres a hero of every single class which is great but some require other campaigns. There are also some great accessories that are used as armor which look like the coolest thing especially when combined with some good matching armors. This campaign is also connected to GW2 which is still under construction but will of course be great with some cool features like jump. Great game recommend you get them all and has outstanding graphics in which all campaigns have which a great range of 10 different classes to suit you which are all great to use and powerful in there own way. Don"t regret until you try it.

Comment: Some people argue that Guild Wars is an MMO and not an MMORPG due to its instanced nature. But what ever it is, it's a very excellent game. Gmaeplay: The quests are the same as WoW, that they are implemented in such a special way that you will always find them very fun and enjoyable. The classes are well balanced, also when choosing a class you get to mix them up with another class which is very unique feature that I have never seen in any other MMORPGs, it creats a lot of different ways to play the game. Since the world is instanced you get to have it all to your self so you can keep questing or farming but it does give you that empty feeling inside your heart. Since the level cap is 20 there is no grind which is a positive thing. Each character has 8 skills which keeps the game simple and the action fast. The game has quite a few campaigns and an expansion so it has a lot of content. The pvp is awesome and balanced. 9/10 Graphics: The graphics are very good and they make the environment stand out. Old machines can run the game which is always awesome. 9/10 Community: The community is absolutely fantastic, it is very warm welcoming. Guilds are just simply fantastic and you make a lot of friends. I did find some of those idiot players. 9/10 Difficulty: Same as WoW. Easy to get started, simple layout so you can figure everything out by your self and soloing is very easy. 10/10 Overall: 9/10

Comment: Innovative and interesting. wow, i have to admit i never played the entire first campain. by the time i got half way throught, factions came out and i was head over heels. now with an added bonus content pack and eye of the north expansion this game really never stops being interesting. let me explain how this game works: you do have to pay for the game, but it is one payment and the game is yours to play every month with no fees. There 1 main game with 3 expansion packs and 5 bonus content packs to buy. each game sees you summoned to help defeat a great threat, in a true fantasy style you can choose to be many traditional classes. Monk, Ranger, Warrior, Elementalist (element mage), Mesmer (mind mage) and Necromancer with Assasine and Ritualist classes being added with the factions expantion. the third pack gives you an extra 2 calsses called Dervish and Paragon. your given a choice to persue an class of your choice and mix it up with one other class as well. after defeating one campain you can transferr you character to another campain and continue. this makes the game incredbly interesting with years worth of gameplay and an awsome pvp system and welcoming community. there is almost no grind after lvl 20 (since it only goes to level 20) and you can expect a very competetive pvp with festavals put on every 3 months or so. the biggest festeval is probbly the dragon festeval where player from all accross Guild wars gathering together in the streets to drink, dance and play games. this game is not perfect however :( it does have old graphics and the music can be repetetive. the PVE element of the game can almost never be played solo and many of the high level weapons you see require hours of raiding. and questing. if you don't have the patience i would probbly give this game a miss. overall this game is very enjoyable and innovative with some clever Interface gadgets (such as the ability to draw on the minimap for other player in your team to see). it has Years of fun gameplay but can get repetetive if played too much. (witch im sure you will do ;3 ) 8/10 not free, but worth it!

Comment: First of all, I would like to say that out of the many, many Online games that I have played, Guild Wars was the one I enjoyed the most. What made this game for me was that for one, I didn"t have to spend countless hours grinding on the same stupid looking creature just to achieve some sort of goal which I was told by someone I had to achieve. I"m not saying there is no grinding in Guild Wars. It has its fair share of it, but in comparison to many other MMOs, it is certainly low. I played the game pretty much from it"s start, all the way to Eye of the North, and even though each subsequent game was similar to the last, I still enjoyed every minute of it. Guild Wars will certainly be on my top list for quite a while. Gameplay 9/10: The gameplay is very simple, and easy to use, though not so easy that it"s broken. There are a few minor details that I found rather odd, but nothing major. Graphics 9/10: The graphics are amazing for an online game. The scenery is beautiful enough that I found myself manually traveling from town to town just to see it all. Character animations tended to be a bit weird and jerky, but otherwise pretty decent. Sound 10/10: Guild Wars music is probably some of the best music I have heard in an MMO in a long while, though it tended to get a bit repetitive on some areas. The sound effects, and voice acting were good enough that I didn"t have to constantly turn my speakers off to save my auditory organs. One thing I would like to stress is that Guild Wars is not a "WoW killer". This game is in no way similar to WoW. Comparing the two is like trying to compare apples with oranges. They are both fruits, but they have completely different qualities about them that make them unique. I do not believe that WoW is better than Guild Wars, nor that Guild Wars is better than WoW, simply because they really can"t be compared. If you like open-world, group oriented killing sprees, then WoW is probably your best bet. But if you prefer a more centered, personalized gameplay, with more story than exploration, then Guild Wars will be your best bet.

Comment: Great Graphics and Storyline without a monthly fee. I quit GW to play WoW, and honestly I am sick of WoW's "Go Fetch Me" quests. Though WoW has some perks GW does not currently have like jumping, swimming and an auction house, WoW's cartoon-like graphics and weak story line is geared for the non-strategic gamers who need to buy skills at a trainer. GW has no monthly fee, missions are challenging and promotes more teamwork. I would suggest to GW design programmers to add up to 30th Level, jump/swimming, and more races to their next expansion. I give this game a 9 because after 3-4 years they should have already gone this direction after 3 expansions from the original Prophies.

Comment: So, you're sitting down looking at reviews on Gameogre. Now you are reading a review for Guild Wars, but whether you have heard of it or not, you have not played it. And you sit and think "Hmm, I wonder whether this would be a good game to get..." Get it. Buy this game. The graphics rule. The combat rules. The PvE rules. The PvP rules (Ele ftw) The entire prospect of it rules. (Except the linearity of it XD) Get this game. Now.

Comment: ok this game is great! Compared to WOW its amazing! Unlike WOW you actually have somthing to do apart from wondering around and killing stuff. The missions are actually quite hard and there not just go along and kill this dude and you.ve done you have to navigate quite a bit. Skills a whole lot better than WoW's GW has over 350 and WOW has... just over 100? The graphics are amazing!! Now on to the secandary classes a fantastic idea I thinki mean prophicies allows 30 dual classes wich in effect is more options for classes than WOW and most over cames i've played! Overall fantastic. Apart from one thing in order to do a mission you,ve either got to do it with henchman(computer controlled characters) or join a party with other players wich if your a low lvl you have no chance of getting

Comment: My Dad"s friend found this out, i used to play Runescape (yes, i know, shocking) but thats mainly cause i had nothing better to do. i"ve been playing GW 3 years now. The lvl cap at 20 makes the game good because all the people who want to lvl to waaayy high levels faster than anyone else then just generally be a jerk about it (the pricks, in other words) quit, or just dont buy it. The only con with the lvl cap is that once you"ve completed all the campaigns, got a bunch of money and bought 15k armor theres nothing to do. You just have to pvp for your guild, gets pretty boring after a while. But eh, when guild wars 2 comes out that will all be behind me. Graphics: 10/10 Bad graphics? i think not. sure it dosent have as good graphics as some of the new games for the computer BUT this game is over 3 years old. Gameplay: 10/10 Very understandable. thanks to the tutorials and tip during Pre-Searing these controls are very clear. Community: 9/10 OK, Pre searing is full of geeky teenage boys with lots of acne being Female Elementalists dancing in their underwear. but when you get to the higher level bits, the community is more mature. Combat system: 9/10 "oh its just point and click" no its not. if you dont use your skills you"re dead. if you dont have a good build you"re dead. if you try and take on things way higher levels than you with just any old team you"re dead. its not simple. an elite mission can take about an hour to get everyone prepared. PVP: 9/10 i dont like pvp generally. BUT the pvp system is good thanks to factions. Although in alliance battles you get the odd prick insulting you.. then he loses and ragequits, but a lot of the time pvp is honorable. Leavers and Ragequitters get the "Dishonorable" Hex which means they cant fight in an arena battle for 10 minutes. That eliminates the impatient people and people who are desperate to win. PVE: 10/10 Great! Good story, different regions, races, and steps your character takes. important steps mostly include Ascension and getting your armor infused. Overall: 10/10 as i have said before. THE BEST GAME EVER, let nobody tell you otherwise. Mops the floor with WoW

Comment: it really is a great game, i mean most games focus on leveling up to a really high level and then who ever has the highest level wins right? Not with GuildWars, Now i think i can speak with some authority considering i own all the Guildwars games that are out and have been playing Guild wars for 3 years now. I do agree with previous posts about how the atmosphere is pretty bad. For a long time i only played Pre-Searing (very begining) Simply because the atmosphere there is very fun and kicked back. But once you go to Post-Searing every one seams to be really uptight, and just not very friendly. But after i came acrost a small guild i had a blast, me and 10 other guys had a blast helping each other beat the game and farm items. The "Guild Hall" system is an amazing idea. your "Guild Hall" is basicly a place for you to go and hang out or PvP a little with your Guildies. Only you and your guildies can go there (Guests and allied Guilds can go too if i remember correctly). Over all its an excelent game, although you will not see me there anymore because they updated it too much for my poor little laptop to handle.

Comment: Guild Wars drove me to want to play offline games for some time. The graphics are great, but the people, frankly, ruin the atmosphere. I have to quote someone below for the observation that (in the first chapter): "everyone is either a pervert, a rascist, and idiot, or any combination of the three" At least in Eve, you"re stuck with people playing the game, and don"t constantly get spammed teenie bopper nonsense. In GW, the centre of every town seems to be a pit of people dancing and shouting LOL LIKE REALLY SHUT UP NICE! which the world bubbles make impossible to ignore. Added to which, if you want to get anywhere interesting, you can"t go it alone. The economy is stupid (yay, dye). I"d like to see another game do this genre better. WOW certainly doesn"t. GW is a step in the right direction but not halfway there. No, I don"t want to run that mission for the 200th time for the 0.00000000000001% chance of getting that awesome item. Leave me alone.

MR darklord i think WOW is even worst when come to bugs. i think GW cleared the Bug and balance a lot of skills every week? compare to WOW i think skill update is like 1 year per update i didnt see much improvment for WOW compare to GW WOW have come out with 3 expansion and GW with 4 and i can see that every expension GW tried to come up with something cool. in faction introduce end game item, etc. NF introduce tresure chest and hero and EOTN introduce hero books and title WOW? um... all i see is ok most of u are lv 60 make new expansion and raise up cap to 70 and new expansion raise lv cap to 80 and then 90.........at the end 200 lvl? GW have over 700 skills compare to WOW i think only 100 skills which most of them are passive and only a few skills being used while the rest are useless. this is totally great game with very active GMs and Admins

Comment: Graphics are great. Awesome that there is no monthly fee. The gameplay is very linear, you pretty much end up doing the same thing over and over again, there is little replayability. you can only have 8 skills equipped at one time :/ personally, I know a lot of people love the whole "instance thing" but I hate having to group up in a town, and then set out, to have people not make it through the loading, end up leaving half way through the mission, etc. overall I didn't care much for the game, but at least I can go back to it whenever I want.

Comment: Oh. Wow. I"ve never laughed more at a comment. Gamergal, most of what you said has been corrected, but still it has to be said. Pvp - You start off in -RANDOM- Arenas. Once you win there a few times, you unlock -TEAM- Arenas. In Team Arenas you can choose your group carefully from the players who have also unlocked it. Once you win there a few times, you unlock the High Class PvP spot. Which I forget the name for.. anyway, the PvP is a big part of this game, and Random Arenas is like a luck of the draw type thing. Nobody is at a disadvantage or an advantage. Payment - You pay once for the Access Key, and you can play forever for free from there. There are currently three games and an expansion, you have to buy each to play them all. PvE - There are quests, which is your general "go here, kill that, protect this, follow him" story. Then there"s missions, which is a more epic version of quests. Community - The community is what you make. You can join a guild and only talk to those people in it, or you can converse with everyone. If there is someone you don"t like, you can ignore them, meaning you can"t see what they say. You can -ALWAYS- get a group. ALWAYS. Real People, or not. You can use real people in a mission, which is fun, but it takes longer because you have to wait for them. Ooooorrr, you can use NPC characters like Henchman or Heroes. It"s a little harder, because no AI is perfect, but you get the job done. Graphics - The graphics are among the best I"ve seen for low-budget computers. Combat - There are infinite combinations of Skill Builds! You play how -you- want.

Comment: This game scores a perfect 10 in my book. The game play is fun and you are never doing the same thing two times in a row. Different types of monsters make you use different skills. Build up a guild, get an alliance going and just dominate in the player vs player (PvP) aspect of the game. And to top it all off, there is no monthly fee. If you played WoW and tired of paying monthly, check this game out.

Comment: coming from a guild war veteran heres my review graphics(10/10): the graphics in guildwars can beat almost any other mmorpg at full value however it also requires a good graphic card at full value combat(7/10): gets boring after awhile since everyone either makes you run a build or shuns you which isnt bad but some places scare off the new players because of this making it so hard to find a random group, as well as you not being able to solo anything without a proper invincible build which is nice because it forces players to either suck with henchmen and heroes(unless your really good at micromanagement) or join other players which most of the time is really better than hench/hero build community (5/10): the community could be a bit nicer to new players basically theres always that person in every group that goes around spamming omg noob when really hes a even bigger noob 8) things to do (5/10): not much here you either become a pvper or a pver theres no minigames no side professions such as fishing and you cant even solo as efficently as a group can unless you get really good with invicible builds which ruins the fun .> not to much to do when youve been playing for 1 or more year -monsters are really overpowered if you try to go out by yourself without anyone including hench/heroes youll generally die by the smallest groups unless you bring a strong build even with a strong build you still cannot solo most things -a lot of things will really get your attention that are actually worthless other than for show example mini pets are a big waste of money although their cool they do nothing =) also the 1k max armor are the same as the 15k armor their just duller and less appealing so dont spend all your money like i did on 3 sets of 15k armor lol my views of this game: this game can be very nice or very dull depending on your guild... personally i like smaller guilds since i know everyone in it =).... also this game gets very dull after awhile especially since everywhere you go there is a specific build everyone looks for even if you manage to get the build they expect everyone to know how to use it making this game really stressful for new players

Apparently you live under a rock and don't even know what ''renting'' is, am I right? As for your community hating.. THIS IS THE INTERNET, WHAT GOOD COMMUNITY DO YOU EXPECT TO FIND? Comment: Gamergal has a highly inaccurate view of this game and its features. I've played for a year and a half now, and have no idea what she is talking about. Yes, you have to buy the game. So? This isn't a cash-shop grindfest. You have to pay programmers and staff to run a quality game somehow, and I would rather pay an up front flat fee than for either a monthly or cash-shop model. I have very rarely had any problem finding people to quest with. GW is unique, especially with the additions of Nightfall and Eye of the North, in that you have have a large number of customizable heroes, as well as non-customizable henchmen that can accompany you. You can quite literally beat the game in normal mode (and nearly all of hard mode) without ever really having to group with another human. This gives you some flexibility and freedom from having to sit around looking for a party when you want to play. At the same time however, that means that you have to look for others that you could quest with reliably. You can join pick up groups (though that does leave you at the mercy of a random person's skills or lack thereof), or just join any sizable guild (they are everywhere), and ask in the alliance chat (which will likely have hundreds of members) if someone will help you in a particular area. Most people who are not doing something at that moment will be willing to help. If you don't like the focus of that guild, and it does too much pve/pvp and not enough of the other, then just find another one. They are easy to change, and cost you nothing. The community is not "Awful! Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude..." etc. There are people that can be, like in any game, but to generalize like that is nonsense. Most people chat more within their guild and alliance than in the public chat, simply because those are the people that they will most readily be questing with, pvping, trusting not to be scammed by, etc. You do have to make SOME effort to establish human relationships. It is GUILD Wars. This person obviously has very little experience in pvp. There are numerous arenas and styles of pvp, not just the Random Arena 4v4. The Random Arena is not considered serious pvp. It is something there to get a quick pvp fix, because generally there is no wait time, and you don't have to bother finding a group, as they are put together automatically. Team Arenas is an organized 4v4 match, where each team sets up before the match, and then faces off against others in a mini-ladder contest. Guild vs. Guild combat sets 8 people in one guild against 8 people in another guild, where one group storms the other one's guild hall and tries to kill their guild lord and the other team. It is great fighting with your friends and closer guildmates. There are also 12 vs 12 Alliance Battles where you capture shrine points while fighting the other side, 1 v 1 Hero Battles, where it is you and your hero npcs that you control versus another players'. There are also ladder tournaments with 8v8. Essentially, gamergal has obviously had no real experience playing this game. There is lag sometimes at peak hours, but it is scattered, rather than constant, like in Perfect World.

Comment: I've played bot WoW and GW and both are very good in my opinion. The main problem with guild wars is that the lag can be anywhere from tiny to a 10 min wait to see something move and you can't take a proffession like fishing or smelting like you can in WoW. Overall though the graphics and sound are nice and the gameplay is great for a free mmo. I give it a 7/10.

Comment: Cost: You have to buy the game. If you don't like the game, you've wasted your money. Quests and missions: Lots of them. Gets monotonous. Some you can do solo, some need other player to help. No guild member online to help? No friends online to help? Good luck finding some one else. Community: Awful! Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude. People constantly bug you to join their guild. Filled with 10 year old kids or those with that mind- set. Arena for pvp : Group of 4 player team . You have no choice of players on your team. If team's not a good class mix or low level players.... your team loses. Lag: Yes there's lag sometimes.

Comment: "PvP - 3/10: Now we come to the dirty, low-down part of the review. The system for PvP is very innovative, with separate characters, customizable weapons and armour, etc. But the system is also the most noob-unfriendly thing I’ve ever seen. every single time I enter the PvP, I get owned by a bunch of elites that kill my party every 5 seconds. Terrible PvP." ( i bet this guy sux in pvp and didnt do much Team arena and or even hero arena) let me continue a little more on pvp pvp rating 9.5 almost flawless with over 1k skills and u can make any combo with 8 skill inculding 1 skill elite in the 8 skills makes ur build very interesting. ur build are more or less balance for example if u are playing protection and self heal tank u cant do dmg much. if u go aggressive u wont be able to heal urself. HOH is perfect to have 3 grp fighting each other. having 1-1 guild is just showing how skilled u are but have 3grps makes u use more of ur brain on how to make 2 of them lose to u when u are outnumbered. in PVP RA aka random arena this is an arena for beginner to start with when u dont have friends playing with u or u are new. u did not require to have friend but the system will port u to random team of 4 what makes this fun is its random =) and what doesnt make this fun is probably someone below who said pvp in gw is terrible is in ur team TA aka team arena team arena is totally the same with RA except u have to grp before going in making u build a grp combo. HA aka hero ascent unlike TA or RA this is a 8 player pvp this pvp wining 5 times will enable u to join HOH HOH hall of hero same as HA except u have 3 teams inside this makes u to have 2 opponent instead of usual 1 winning in HOH will earn u a athority to open a HOH chest which have rare items inside it Guild vs Guild battle for only guild member vs other guild member of 8 vs 8 winning in this will allow u to raise ur guild rating AB or alliance battle flag capture base pvp ( like battle field) of 12 vs 12 killing count as 1 point and capturing counts as 2 point every few sec ( cant remember how many sec) team that reaches 500 point first won the point can be use to own a town for many benefits

Comment: I’ve played this game for… What? 3 months now? And I love it. Graphics are great, Audio gives good atmosphere, Community is nice-ish, and best of all, gameplay. Graphics - 9/10: The graphics are eye-poppingly good for this game, and I feel I’m being un-just here, playing on a 4 year old craputer. The NPCs and characters look, sadly, like they’ve been hit with the ugly bat, and the armour graphics on the other players are not as good as your own. You’ve got to love the armour art and variety of textures. The best graphics are in NoobLand, while the area around Kaineng Center in the Factions campaign is a bit of an eyesore. Lag - 9/10: Met nearly no lag through my gaming experience. a few times I was subject to spontaneous ‘lagathons’, but it passed. Also, expect lag in heavily populated cities. Audio – 8/10: On some places it’s epic, while on others, it’s monotonous after a while. Great atmospheric audio, but you’ll be turning on your iPod in a few occasions. The sound is pretty quiet, so expect to screw up your volume bar to full. Monster sounds are, well, pretty normal, not epic or dull. Gameplay – 9.5/10: The explorable world is huge, considering you can’t climb, swim, jump, or otherwise move on the vertical axis. Grinding is moderate to minimal, as you’ll be kept busy with the delicious buffet of quests. As to keep you from grinding on the same weak level 0 monster all the time, you’ll only gain exp from monsters 5 levels below you or stronger. Once you reach the low-low cap of level 20 though, it all changes. I gained levels 1-15 pretty fluidly, and got my way to level 20 by repeatedly doing a very fun mission, all in a little more than a week. Oops. HUGE mistake doing that even before you made it through half the story. The 5 level exp limit gets pretty harsh in my situation, because even though I managed very far in the story after a few attempts, all I could do hunting was two things: get owned heroically by a horde of level 28 monsters, or stomp a bunch of weak level 11 monsters. My exp bar stood practically static. Once in while I would find a good few level 16 monsters, though. So, game gets dull after the level cap. Instancing is probably the best feature; since my problem in most MMOs is getting kill-stealed all the time, and the monster populations in those MMOs are so low one could imagine it as one of the nightmares of the leader of WWF. Community – 6/10: The game-wide community is mediocre at best, and I’ve seen a lot of ‘shouters’ in my sessions on GW. They shout random and mostly offensive things with caps on, and the others respond back with more insults. Quite a few players I know are verrrrrrrrry inactive, while others take GW as seriously as real life. The guild community is great, friendly and helpful, but I’ve yet to see a guild with more than 6 players active at a time. PvP - 3/10: Now we come to the dirty, low-down part of the review. The system for PvP is very innovative, with separate characters, customizable weapons and armour, etc. But the system is also the most noob-unfriendly thing I’ve ever seen. every single time I enter the PvP, I get owned by a bunch of elites that kill my party every 5 seconds. Terrible PvP. Pricing and Future Development - 9/10: The games are dirt cheap, having my much beloved pay-once-and-never-again system, and, living in Sweden, I spent about $150 for the 3 campaigns. I lament the fact that the franchise ends here and development on GW2 has begun, but joining so early in the game, I didn’t expect to understand why either. I appraise that there is no foreseeable end in the franchise, and the pricing system is going to continue. OVERALL – 8.7/10: A very good game, except for PvP. It’s a definite keeper.

Comment: The thing I like about GW is that since it is free to play, I don't feel pressured to go play it at any time. And for a free online RPG it's just great value. I saw someone mentioning you have to pay for each campaign. So? It's a small cost, especially since that's all you pay for and nothing else. There's also more stuff in the ingame store to purchase, but it's not essential. The graphics are not 2008 state of the art, but quite great looking for a three year old game. The PvE campaigns, stories and characters, plus the skills and PvP battle systems are quite well done. Right now I'm doing Eye of the North and loving it. So thumbs up for GW, I'm sticking with it.

Comment: Reply: "opresser",(Below this post), Well this game might have an initial cost, but its worth it & who said that it come in the category of "Totally Free MMORPGS", the thing is that its quality of gameplay and graphics is so incredibl that only WoW can be compared to it, so there's no point on saying that its not free, becuase its worth the investment. Besides this, your overall rating is 73.33%, not 69.85%.....lol

Comment: WTF..Dear Mr."worldofwarcraft4life "(3rd post below this one), why the hell did you give Gw a "0" when you haven't even played it? Allright, Gw (All campaigns combined) are approx. 3 times as big as WoW (With Expansion), secondly, GW has the BEST MMO Graphics out of all MMORPGS, so your statement about "Getting lost as if it was real life" is actually more appropriate for Gw & it falls flat. Your objurgatory comments about Gw are all bogus, I think GW is much more fun compared to WoW, Gw has EXCELLENT PvP structure & surpasses WoW's PvP by far (Go read WoW's reviews, tons of people said that...lmao), besides, WoW's graphics seem OBSOLETE after playing GW whose graphics drench your senses the moment you get into it and redefine reality! What the hell do you mean by: "fun stuff and meeting new people and exploring new places" ????? You meet people in GW too; you explore new places and do funs stuff, besides this, Arena NET has done a commendable job creating such a Top-Notch MMORPG with NO FEES, unlike BLIZZARD, whoi made the game for the sake of SUPER NORMAL PROFIT (In business terms), this shows how much they care about the customers, respectively. So these vague statements are of no value, so if you're so much obssesed with WoW, go play it & stop writing fallacious pathetic reviews about GW.

Comment: I fail to see why everyone hates GW. It's free, doesn't require months of grinding to have fun. Since the major downfall until level 70 on WoW you've got nothing to do besides quests. PvP yay time to get owned by a twink? Dungeons? Why bother just get a boost problem solved. Still level 20 cap isn't going to be much of a problem as stated GW2 will have a higher cap.

WoW is #1 online game and always will be untill the WOTLK comes out then after that some basics updates like fixing buggs and then let players run it into the ground. But if u want a FUN game ALWAYS turn to WoW ALWAYS! i give this game a 0 out of 10 and WoW a 15 out of 15!

Comment: Ok, first of all, I'd say that its Graphics are uncomparable, not even WoW comes close to them, great gameplay & totally awsome PvP structure, secondly I'd like to tell everyone about the SIZE of this game ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO WoW, well, for those who think that Wow is bigger than GW, they are sadly mistaken and this ahs been proved by many sites, I'd like to mention the true figure of its size scaled in-game: WoW: 106 Square Kilometers GW:(All 3 Combined): 301 Square Kilometers!!! and lets not forget that Wow's are is merely as big as(or maybe a bit bigger) GW:Prophecies+Eye of the North. SO 10/10 for this to-notch MMORPG.

Comment: I"ve played the game for 30 months. I have done what is possible. The game was and is still a great game but with the expansion Eye of the North it really got messed up. A new skill got introduced. An elite skill called Ursan blessing. So now when u get the game don"t expect to get a party without maxed rank of the Norns and Ursan Blessing in your skill bar. (The rank is 1-10 rank which for each rank you gain the skill gets better, the skill works only in PvE so if you like PvP its still great!) 8/10 1 point lost for the skill Ursan Blessing 1 point lost for not a single game in the universe is gooe enough to get a 10, a game just can"t be perfect. Look at Crysis, great graphics yeah. But stupid on every other aspect! //pOintstiveise

Comment: With all the features Guild Wars has to offer, the only thing keeping other MMOs alive is the fact that those users probably haven"t tried Guild Wars. With breathtaking graphics, you"ll often find yourself taking a look around in awe between adventures. The amount of quests are so dense, that only a fool would need to grind, and every battle feels like a dungeon quest. That"s not to mention the most unique factor in the game: a storyline. With brilliant cut-scenes and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, it"s at times like playing a console RPG. As for the combat, Guild Wars focuses on skills, not equipment. With elite skills, forms, summons, and attacks, you can hack and slash through the depths of hell with vendor-bought armor. You may reach the level cap of 20 quite soon, but you"ll find that level means quite little. You power in this game is not only determined by your skills, but by your skillz as well. It"s all about setting your class and sub-class up in harmony. This unrivaled MMORPG comes to you not only with class, but an affordable price tag... and only one of them. That"s right, you pay once for the game, and then play for as many months as you"d like without a monthly fee.

Comment: Guild Wars is one of the best MMOs ever made. Maybe one of the best games ever made. There are very few flaws to the game. The fact that everywhere out of a city is instanced is both good and bad. I don't mind the level cap of 20, because you don't need to focus on what level you're on to get skills. My only major complaint is that all of the explorable areas are extremely linear. You basically have one or two paths to follow through the entire area, which ruins some of the fun of exploring. other than that, though, the game is excellent in almost every way. Plus, it's free!

Comment: I have this and it got sooooo boring. Not many classes, the people are all moronic, it's got too many seams and you have to sit around for ages just to GET anywhere. Levelling gives no kind of reward except maybe 1 new spell every 8 levels that another class can get anyway. The gear is awful, as are the mechanics... Didn't enjoy this.

Comment: I would still be playing the game if there was more stuff 2 do. After a certain point it just gets boring as hell grinding 4 titles. Theres really not much in the way of new pve experiences and all tht happens is the community find a place 2 farm x rare weapon, within a week its nerfed and we're back 2 looking. The good aspects are the lack of grind in most places and the pvp battles are absolutely incredible. But theres just not enough storyline to the game. Instancing the map makes the game really samey throughout with little variance in gameplay. There are no lvlable crafting skills and the only thing that people really sell ingame is rare weapons. I hope Anet irons out these problems for GW2 but until then im playinf Perfect World.

Comment: This game is very good for having no monthly fee. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Pros: -Graphics -Storyline -Tons of content (Quests and Missions) -Great replayability. Each class has distinct play styles. -The world is huge -Game is more skill based then level based -Does a good job of "weeding" out noobs for high end PvE -Each campaign offers a different experience Cons: -Level cap of 20 makes game feel shorter. Not as much in Prophecies which takes about half the game to hit 20. But definitely in Factions and Nightfall which is about 1/4 and 1/3 respectively. -No trade skills so the only way to earn money is the farm and quest -Private areas are nice, but can become lonely over time. Anyone who has played WoW understands the fun of meeting up with someone in the wilderness and questing. Overall: This game is extremely good and the Pros outweigh the Cons. If the Cons turn you off too much, just wait for Guild Wars 2 which will have persistent areas, a higher level cap, and jumping and swimming.

Comment: The game's very geared towards gamers who like mmorpg games but hate all the inconveniences and annoyances that WoW and similar games have. The graphics are impressive, the combat is solid enough, and it has great storylines for each campaign. PvP feels more like a tournament than a war, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. It's different from other mmo's also in the lack of much customization, which isn't a huge deal, just that you'll always find someone with the same exact armor as you, that kind of stuff. It's a great game, and no subscription fees=win.

Comment: I got this game and played it for a while and then discovered some serios flaws which affectmed my game play, bugged armour issues where if you level 10 you can take on 20 mobs and they wont scratch you, but get the best arnour out there, not the art stuff and those same mobs will kick your butt. the game is not about grinding and lvling its about exploring and getting rare weapons. also the only way to see other people in the game is by partying with them you can see anyone if you solo, so I dont class this as a real mmorpg

Comment: Graphics: As mentioned, graphics are better than any other on line game I have ever played. WoW does not compare 10/10 Questing & Mission System: The game world is not small as you may have been led to believe by many comments here and when you do beat the original Prophecies there are 2 more worlds you can buy and 1 expansion when you beat the combined 705 Quests 75 Missions 18 Dungeons you can play them over in hard mode 10/10 Guild System: The game was built around guilds (hence the name) the system for joining and designing your own guilds is flawless. When you have acquired enough in game gold you can purchase a guild hall and fill it with vendors creating a guild town for your members. From the guild hall you can access Guild vs Guild Wars, 1 on 1 PvP battles, Hero Battles, or just meet with your friends to start a party for adventuring. 10/10 Farming: Once you have achieved level 20, you can begin to hone your skills and change your secondary profession in an attempt to create a build that might allow you to venture either alone or in a small group into the Guild Wars Universe. Smaller groups yield better drop results for many items. These items can then be sold in game to other players or vendors. 10/10 Armor & Equipment: Or how you will be spending all that gold you"ve been farming. In order to craft armor you must find in game armor crafters or collectors to purchase these items from. At level 20 you will want max armor which costs 1000 gold per piece or 5000 gold for most classes, and you must supply the crafter with the raw materials necessary to craft it. There is also elite versions of most armor which look visually superior and cost 15K per piece or 75K and require rare crafting material. 10/10 Cost vs subscription games: If you paid 40.00 for your game and you have to pay 10.00 a month subscription fee by the end of 1 year you have paid 160.00 if you purchase all 3 worlds and the expansion for guild wars you also spend about that much so if you play the game for over a year there is more value in GW than some other subscription game. 10/10

Comment: First before I give the reveiw I just want to say I think it's funny how people that play WoW come and rate GW as bad even when they never played it. Now for the review. Graphics: 10/10 They're pretty good, but this is to be expected since you have to pay $50 dollars to buy it. Sound: 7/10 It's the same sounds over and over again ,and it gets annoying. Gameplay: 9/10 The most important of them all. It has a pretty good gameplay ,but I think there is ways they can improve it. Leveling: 5/10 That is the downfall. Of course as everyone has said a thousand times you can only get to level 20. Skills: 10/10 There is a very large selection of skills to choose from. You can figure out your build that works best for you. Items: 7/10 If you only have one game then there isn't that much stuff to choose from. In all it's a pretty good game and I recomend it.

Comment: I will give this Game an awful rating due to the fact it will never be like WoW. Though it is fun dont get me wrong.. but there just that feeling that your in a little tiny world and leveling is not challenging. You can be level.20 and thats caps. Its just not fun and leveling is about having fun doing stuff while leveling. Thats what Guild Wars need, WoW has other methods rather than just Grinding and Questing and you get to be Lv.70 with TBC Expansion but this.. I guess will always be lv.20 Thats just me but I love games were Leveling is impossible =D

PVP is one of the best because there is unlimited amount of builds to choose from and make your ownand alot of different arenas to choose from. Also I play mostly PVE and i beat all 3 campaigns and GWEN expansion and there is still alot of stuff still to do. Also economy is usally stable unlike runescape where one day you could be rich in items and the next your broke.

Comment: Been playing since it first came out over two years ago and have all 3 campaigns plus GW:EN expansion on three accts. Since I have three accounts, mine, my husbands, and my oldest kid, i LOVE the fact that there's no additional monthly subscription fee!!!(imagine paying 3 of those suckers a month!!) Aside from that, as a family of casual gamers (primarily pve), I love the flexibility of the game. It seems to me like beating the game is only the beginning. The more I play, the more I learn different strategies, builds, capping elites, & trying out different secondary professions, etc. Trying it again with a different character altogether. Now I have heroes to build up. The title tracks are also cool. I can play for 30 minutes for a quick quest or stay up half the night. Also have been trying a bit of the pvp stuff with guildies (& I love the fact that pvp is seperate from pve and I don't have to worry about some dorkus coming up behind me and killing me or trying to steal from me). Sometimes we make it a "family" night, and play together with hubs and the kiddo. At the same time, if I don't feel like dealing with people, i can play by myself with heroes and henches and still get things done. The flexibility of the game makes it well worth the initial costs in the amount of play time you get. We are all eagerly awaiting GW2 (which is supposed to fix the two major cons I had with the game, which were the ability to jump and climb and other environment interactions and two, adding non-human characters) oh yeah, and the graphics are absolutely stunning, but i have a kickbutt computer, lol.

Comment: THIS IS JUAT A REPLY TO ANOTHER REVIEW The "-" marks where my comment starts in ever sentence. Author: Bob Frank Rating: 1 Comment: I bought this game because the graphics are great and there are no monthly fees. Good: - Graphics are great. - Combat is smooth but does not require any real skill as FPS games do. Bad: - Small world.-Play through it and dont compare to WoW. - No exploration. -There is but mayben ot like other games. - Completely linear. -Quite a bit yeah but not COMPLETELY. - The world outside towns and cities is more of an RPG; just you and your party exist within it. - If you dont like it don play it. - Terrain is completely pathed. - It would not work to have all free movement in Guild Wars. - There is no 1-on-1 PvP. - There is "Scrimmage". - There are only about 10 different sets of armor in the whole game. - Yeah right... haha. - Armor and weapons are completely class specific. -Tried a SECOND proffession on your character? - Max level in 2 weeks, then what? - Well people plays thru diablo 2 LOD in 1 day and then still continues. Maybe its god who make them continue. Personally i'd say your arent supposed to tell people whats bad and whats good before you have played it or a while.

Comment: Guild Wars is a good MMORPG. It is based on team work and to help your ally"s in combat. If you just do solo, your basically screwed. The game is pretty fun because you can bring NPC"s with you on quest"s/mission"s. Guild Wars and an amazing story line, that is the good thing about it. It has good graphics ect. But the thing"s that disappoint me are: -If you leave a town/outpost, it"s through an instance so your basically alone. To be with people you have to invite them to your party. -You can"t jump nor travel the whole map. I mean as in going up high terrain. -The level cap is 20. I wish it could be something like 50 or more, but then again it makes everyone take part of the game. -Death penalty. If you die, you gain 15% death penalty. This mean if you die and get ressurected by an ally or by a ressurection stone you lose 15% of your health and energy. The only remedy for this is going to a town/outpost, completing quest"s in the explorable area or killing monsters. It does get quite annoying (I got really annoyed) when you die and get a penalty, but once to get to about level 13-15 you die less and get used to it. Every time you die, the death penalty goes up. So if you die like three times in the explorable area, you get a 45% death penalty. This penalty stops at 60%, so you will get no more than that. This is really bad because it makes you very weak if you are fighting a boss. -Resurection Signet. This is a skill that every proffesion has. It can resurect allies if they are dead. But what I hate about it is that you can only use it once, unless you get a morale boost. By getting a morale boost you kill something big eg; Afflicted Ritualist. I don"t know if there are other way"s, so if there are correct me please. -There is only ONE race. Human. It would be nice to atleast have Dwarves and Elves. There are load"s more things that I will not go into detail in. Overall, if your parents don"t let you play World of Warcraft or City of Heroes or what ever that has monthly fees. Then I recomend you getting Guild Wars, it"s a nice, mature game. The game is really not addicting, as for it"s not as good as World of Warcraft in my opinion. The game does get boring after a while, and if you decide not to play it any more, get the other campaigns. In my opinion, get Guild Wars Factions as I think is the best one. It has the professions/classes Assain"s and Ritualist that I think is a good combo together. I rate this game, a 7 - Good game, room for improvement.

Comment: I played this game for a good while with a verity of characters, and I can say it is very good. I have only got the basic game, none of the expansions though. Also, there isnt that much grind compared to other games. There are a couple of things I dont like. First, I don't like the fact that when you leave a town you are by yourself or with your party only. Also you're kind of stuck on a path. Going from place to place through missions. It is a very unique game and I would reccommend it. You have to buy the disc/expansions, but for a gamer on a budget it is great. No monthly fees. Easily deserves at least an 8/10

Comment: Guild wars is the best MMORPG I've ever played, the graphics are great and I just love the game in general but i have to agree with Gamer123456 the game does get boring but you have to find other things to do on the game, don't just do the same thing over and over like farming and stuff keep changing what you do, go for a title or play some Pvp! I give this game a 10 out of 10 fore I don't like games where other people can attack your monsters and just walk up to you and kill you or somthing I like my freedom to kill monsters on my own and not get somone running by and killing it or me!

Comment: Was fun at the start but got boring very quickly. Cons: You have to unlock zones by completing missions. This prevents you from joining your friends in a specific area if you haven't already unlocked that area. - the whole game is instanced so it does not play like a MMORPG (creators actually call it a CORPG) - character is stuck to the ground. you can't jump or move freely throughout the maps (ie can't climb terrain etc.) - bank space is incredibly limited. - names pile up on characters head making it very difficult to find someone in a large group. - no open world pvp. all the pvp is structured. ie you can't just walk up and attack someone. - community is filled with rude elitists. if you're looking for a true mmorpg then skip this game, you'll be dissapointed. if rather you're looking for a diablo 2 esque game then you'll enjoy GW.

Comment: Simply brilliant. A great value. Pros: Graphics as engaging and beautiful and vary greatly with your area. Gameplay is surprisingly simple however confusing it may look. Traveling is simple because you can press "m" to go to your map and jsut select an area you wish to go to(assuming you've been there before). The weapons, armors, and skills are beautifully designed with high detail quality. I did play this on a high end $2500 computer but even playing on a friends lower end gaming computer the graphics were vivid. This game very much caters to all types of players ranging from the casual bored person to an experienced mmorpg player. The load times between areas are fast even if it's the first time you've visited the area, usually about about 10-15 seconds on my computer. Even if you've only got a limited time to play you can pick up some henchmen to help you, leave town, level for a bit and end up back in town after enjoying the game. Cons:Limited but the community can tend to be rude to other players but you can make good friends. Sometimes the missions in the game can be time consuming and may not give people with limited play time a chance to finish them without dedicating a little more time. The economy is rather confusing when you first start but you can learn it quickly if you're willing to ask questons. Definitly worth a try if you've got the money for the game. You can buy the first Guild Wars and enjoy it as much as owning all the expansions as well if you;re on a limited budget.

Comment: I own Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. The Guild Wars series features amazing graphics and a huge storyline, with an awesome community to help you with the endgame missions (if you ever reach them). PvE: Doing the storyline has it goods and its bads. The goods include a massive array of skills, fully customizable characters, ranging from craftable weapons to designed capes. The storyline is absolutely huge, with many players pressing the map hotkey, thinking the map is huge, and then realizing that they are still in the tutorial section, with the full game map being almost 10 times the size. Also, during the storyline, you have chances to do fun missions at holiday events, such as organized snowball fights, and can earn and unlock special titles which enhance your characters strength in certain game areas. PvP: PvP is probably what attracted me to Guild wars the most. For those who love PvP as much as I do, Factions is a must have game, as it allows massive 'Captures the enemies base' type games, while still offering Guild versus Guild battles and the Arenas. One good thing about PvP is the fact that you can start of at lvl 20 (the maximum level) to enter the arenas of Alliance Battles straight away. For every kill you or your team makes, you unlock faction which can be used to purchase skills for your PvP chars, allowing you to make them stronger. You can also bring your role playing characters to PvP, to test out your characters strengths and weaknesses. Guild vs Guild battles are possibly the most innovative PvP part of the game. After making or joining a guild, your guild can acquire its own island with a fortress. This fortress can then be equipped with various things, effectively turning it into a small town. During GvG, the battle is hosted at one of the guild's guild fortresses, which the other guild has to storm, and kill the guild leader. This type of gameplay is possibly the best PvP factor in the game, with trebuchets and explosive being used, archers and guardsmen lining the walls and plazas, and intense warfare. Flaws: Only one flaw comes to mind, which is the low level cap. However, this forces you to try and use your character more wisely, as later on in the game the enemies you face will be lvl 24-32, making Elite skills a must-have. Overall: Despite the low level cap, the graphics, storyline, gameplay and PvP options more than compensate, giving this game a rating of 10 out 10.

Comment: I have always said to myself that I wouldn't play WOW because I knew I would be putting so much money into something that would get me nowhere. So you're probabaly thinking what I'm going to say next is, "but when I found Guild Wars, everything changed!" No. Guild Wars is incredible, because its not really an RPG. Well, it is, but its more like Kingdom Hearts mixed with WOW and Spiderman 2, all of which you only pay 30 dollars for and then never again if you want. The one thing no one ever seems to mention is that this game has CUT SCENES. Actual cut scenes with your party in them, that's why the character customization is limited, and it really isnt even that. The graphics are beautiful, the storyline brilliant, the action riviting. And when you finish the game, its not over, you just run around doing quests and getting more skills. Okay, past this post if anyone mentions the level 20 cap, they havent read what Im about to say. Levels mean absolutely nothing in this game other than what you can defeat. This is not a grinding game, you do a handful of quests and mission, which have cutscenes, which is the only thing you have to center on, you level up as a result not by hard work. Sure, you can run around killing things, but if thats all you want do not play this game. This game has a point, and that is teaming up with people around you and completeing a mission. If that's not for you, go to WOW, go to Maple Story, heck, even go to crappy ol' Runescape, but for people who love games that accomplish a goal, get Guild Wars.

Comment: This is an amazing game. I rarely give out a score this high but this game deserves it. This is the only mmorpg that I have EVER seen that is NOT a grind-fest. It is way easier to level up in this game by doing quests rather than killing monsters since the higher the level the less experience you get from monsters. A lot of people think that the level 20 gap is bad but I think it is a good idea. If the main level was 100 and you are level 1 it seems so far away but with the max level being 20 it actually seems achievable. The skills are great. My only complaint is the pvp for only one reason. If you are like me and only play prophecies then this is really annoying. What happens is that assassins and dervishes which are extremely strong and have great skills come over to prophecies and completely destroy everybody. This is the reason that I gave this game a 9 instead of a 10. If they fix this then the game is a definite 10. But for now I rate it 9/10. Great game especially since there is no monthly fees. Definitley try it!

Comment: Please ignore skippy1010's review as he has no idea what he speaks of. World of Warcraft is a constant grindfest with a near 99% linear feel included with a painstaking monthly fee that will leave xbox live holders smileing and laughing. First of all let me say and this is my honest opinion and a fact to boot that Guild Wars looks fantastic and a bit on the cartooney side which is a plus to those who like very in depth art and a great promise for constant rising potential. The sound is devine and is accompanied by a great assortment of skills, a fair community and a well put together PVP and PVE experience. Unlike the kill this come back and kill some more mentality such as games in the past like World of Warcraft and Supreme Destiny thrive on. This game allows flexability with quests that can be much more in depth then your casual RPG. So your probably wondering what is with the lower score? Well this game does have it's downsides such as a level 20 player cap which is very easy to obtain in about a week or two and for me about 1 to 2 days since I know my way around the map. Farming and grinding is implemented in this mmorpg as in every mmorpg but at least Guild Wars does it fairly well espically for new comers. Guild Wars is also a fantastic game for those who play a large variety of different mmorpgs as Guild Wars doesn't tend to absorb all your concentration and time just to make it to that well deserved level up. Again this is where World of Warcraft fails to achieve anything remotely close to a real rpg experience. Several great aspects in this MMORPG espically include the large array of NPC henchman that you can take to battle, but do not expect them to be almighty as their AI is no better then that of an SCV in starcraft. If you have a high-end computer you can experience Guild Wars at all of its glory at over 6x AA and over 8x AF. Now another terrible downside that plagues Guild Wars is the linear objectives that supress the entertainment when you first begin your exploration in the land of GW. Linear to put it simply is Guild Wars motive but once you reach a certain level and have explored enough you will notice getting around and free roaming becomes less transparent and the real fun begins. Leaving town is remarkable, mainly due to the fact that if you kill a monster you don't have to worry about that certain newb stealing all of your loot because parties are assembled before you leave town and whatever area/zone you enter becomes your own. As for my finishing statement I'd just like to say that GW is a fanatastic game and if it were more open-ended it would be a destined legend of it's time aswell as a instant classic.

Comment: This game is brilliant. Great game play and is classed to have the best PvP ever. I might be annoying that the level cap is 20 but when the new guild wars game (Guild Wars 2 coming in 2008) the level cap should be increased to lvl 100. Ive played this game for over 14 months and I still get excitment. If you get bored of this game as you've completed the games already you just have to challenge yourself through the map by soling certain maps. Great Game!

Comment: GW is a GOOD game but not the best i"d ever played. It"s one of those games you would enjoy for like a few months and get bored of. But during the first few months of playing you"ll have fun with it. There are Quests, Missions, Guild vs Guild, Alliance Battle (if you have Factions), and a huge world setting for you to explore. GW also has it"s uniqueness, unlike Diablo II, Dungeon Siege, NWN, and other good rpg games your character"s stregnth and power rely soley on skills. You don"t just walk around and hack and slash your enemies or cast random magic spells. You need a systematic sets of skills, sometimes they serve as a chain reaction. If you have the right skills in the right order or use them in the right time then you"re character would be considered decent. If you use crappy skills and have no timing whatsoever and at times not having them in the right order you"ll be disorganized and your character would basically stink. Other than character development the Guild is the most essential theme of Guild Wars. Joining the Guild maybe hard at first if you"re really new, but if you get lucky someone may recruit you into their guild. Joining the Guild maybe easy, but finding the good, decent, cooperating guild is hard. Most guild"s have problems these days, it"s usually players within the Guild being inactive for couple weeks, being on and off sporadically, and people not helping you because they are concern with their own affairs. If you participate Guild vs Guild or AB you"ll have lots of fun if you win now and then. If you keep losing you"ll easily lose hope and leave the Guild. So joining the right guild is important to your entertainment or else if you join a losing guild then you won"t have any fun. Owning a Guild is a different story. I was a leader of my Guild for a while until I had to hand it to another friend of mine. The problem of the guild is that many members are usually inactive for a few days. It may not sound so bad but when you actually run a Guild it gets pretty annoying. You NEED people in order to run a guild. Officers from my experience are most likely to be on everyday only if you promote the RIGHT ONES. Getting people into your guild will be hard. Most people who join will be newbs since your Guild is new, no veterans or experienced players would want to join. It"s not rare but it"s hard to get experienced players. Since most people are in a guild already recruiting will be hard. However the good side of having a Guild maybe community if your manage to make a Good guild. Having your guild participate Alliance Battle and Guild vs Guild can be pretty fun. The problem with this is that winning Guild vs Guild can be pretty hard if your Guild is inexperienced and new. To be owned by another guild is something not to stress about but noobs take is so seriously that doing another Guild vs Guild is going to be hard since you need people People in your guild will mostly do PVE or Player vs Environment on their own. Because of this it"s hard to manage the guild without the cooperation of your people. If you do not have cooperation you do not have a good guild, that"s all I have to say about being leader of the Guild. Problems of Guild wars seem to weigh more than the pros. The marketing or buying armors and weapons can be pretty annoying and frustrating. Unlike Diablo II and other rpg games you to go to a crafter and have weapons and armors crafted. You need materials and rare materials in order to have the weapons and armors crafted. Buying materials or finding them, including rare materials can be hard. Rare materials cost A LOT, buying enough of them to get a set of armors is a ridiculous amount of price. You have to understand that in Guild Wars accumulating gold is not all too easy like in Diablo II. If you sell your items to an NPC merchant they buy it for a really cheap price which is not a very good profit. Selling them to players is better but it takes times since players are humans and they have to decide whether they want your products or not. The variety of weapons and armors are very low compare to other RPG games i"d played. Finding a special weapons with magic is hard, at least from my experience. You won"t be finding a cool looking weapon lying on a ground next to a corpse of a giant because it"s rare. You will find good weapons now and then but usually they"re not always what you want. You also will NEVER find armors lying on a ground you have to buy them. Doing missions and quest in a party is fun if you have friend with you rather than henchmen who are incapable of doing certain things that a normal player would do. Playing with other players is fun but when you do a quest and mission they can log off right in the middle of it. That can occur many times, and when it happens it makes the mission and quest more difficult to achieve. The reward for quests are fair in terms of experiene but poor in terms of money. usually the highest reward for gold would be 500 gold. If you play the expansion GWEN (Guild Wards Eye of the North) the reward there can be 1000 gold. Quests are fun when you first play them but they get redundant in the end. There"s not enough creativity to it. In conclusion of this very long essay of GW, I say Guild wars is a good and decent game. The graphic is good, the game play is good, and basically everything is good but not great or bad. It"s hard to control a guild, it"s extremely inconvenient to to buy weapons and armors, and being with a party can be a pain in the A$$ when people leave right in the middle of a mission. The Game has both major and minor flaws, and it really can"t be fixed. So if you"re asking me, "So do you recommend this game?" I would say it really depends, me personally I liked this game but I eventually got bored of it. If you know what i"m talking about even though you never played this game then don"t waste your money.

Comment: i played this game for 6 months and had some awsome lvl 20 characters that were great. But then i bought wow and guild wars sort of transformed into a turd on the ground. I realized that there were mmorpgs that were much much better out there. Though if you are on a budget then i would reccomend guild wars. The main complaint i have with guild wars is the none seamless world and how nobody else except you and your party are in the world that are players. The pvp combat in guild wars is top noch and is great and competetive. But the story and pve and stuff is a nightmare to bad it makes up 80%-90% of the game. the reason the pve isnt any good is the work of the private world your in and how its not seamless. Then again it is nice to put your nice roleplaying character to the test in pvp but the truth is its still not worth it. Another complaint is there is not manay weapon and armor types at all. I did own guild wars factions also this added quite a bit of well the same old pve combat and some great pvp combat. I hope that people will listen to what i say and make the right choice on which mmorpg your going to buy!

You dont need a map with all the people, how ever many, you get your own area to farm, kill monsters, level, etc. The guilds was a fantastic Idea. I totaly love the one im in, and an officer of! Also, PvE, PvP, GvG,AvA, and all of the of the verses modes, I gotta say, keep it up Guild Wars!

I've gotta say though Guild wars is by far the best. First off, WOW is a great game..i have a lvl 70 i love it but there is absolutly no story which sucks. FFXI i couldnt find a group and everyone spoke japanese...quit at lvl 40. Runescape i played back in like 5th grade hahaa horrible graphics, community, and gameplay...dont play it. Guild wars is the best game out there, the graphics are crazy good, free to play, great story, great pvp and pve its just simply the best

Comment: Well this game just rocks, peroid. Everything about it is awesome, graphics, gameplay, PvP, endgame missions (my guild leader has a level 20 character and he's been working on the final mission for months and still isn't done), all better than WoW. Plus it's free, so why play WoW when it costs $150 appx. to play it for 10 months when you can spend $30 on Guild Wars and play forever! And to the person who asked th questions: 1. 20, but the endgame is huge and it takes quite a while to level. 2. Nightfall, has a great story, all of the core professions plus Dervish (nobody cares about paragon). Prophecies is fun too, but Factions is WAY too short and easy. 3. You can make guilds and alliances (groups of guilds) 4. Read this list and find your favorite type of character, the profession ideal for you will be next to it. DD: Mesmer, Elementalist, Dervish Tank: Warrior Ranged Attacks: Ranger Healer: Monk Evil magic/health stealing: Necromancer

I bought Guild Wars when it was new in stores, but didn"t have a chance to play it for awhile as my computer was horrible at the time. But when I was given the chance to play it for 5 minutes I was excited and amazed.... At that time I was pretty new to MMO"s and this was the best graphics out of most games i"ve played up till then, so I was very impressed. After playing the game for month after month it does get old, and I did stop playing after... a year, but I still do play and I own all the games in the series so far....well thats my opinion and heres some other junk that might be useful to people who may be hesitant about considering this game. Guild Wars Boasts: Incredible graphics that rival alot of recent console games. Free online play with no monthly subscription A pretty good helpful community (except for me, im a jerk muahahah) Awesome orchestratic soundtrack Tons of interesting skills and classes A character customization process that offers many more choices than a great deal of other MMOs Guild Wars Lacks: Varied gameplay, all you do is kill things (though it still manages to look different) hmmm... i cant think of anything else, though the unvaried gameplay is a great flaw, because after awhile, it will just seem like your doing the same things, over and over again(especially when you"ve already played dozens of other MMO"s).

Comment: Seriously, great. -Beautiful rendered graphics -Great Animation -Lag, I hear good, but I don't get any -Players, well, they're alright -Cost, great, only a one time buy (and that's just to get the game and no monthly fees) I'd play it but stopped because I use my time to create my own games and not just play others, but I still take breaks and have a little bit more fun. This game is great/good on fun compared to most.

Tournaments with real cash to win Although i dont play it for 7 months and i dont think i will ever return to this game, I felt compelled to pay the tribute and give this game rating it deserves.

Comment: It's a great game! The world is huge, there is tons of armor and weapons sets, and lots of professions. Yeah for the whole set it cost $150 but the oline play is free and that would be only 10 months of WoW.(which is completely overated)

Comment: As a regular game reviewer and a regular MMORPG player, i found myself immersed in this gaming world, from the opening cinematics to the grouping up to fight in the catacombs, in a short paragraph Guild Wars is the best free MMORPG available to you. I brought this game two weeks ago, with an idea that all the fuss was going to be for nothing, and this would just be a regular, run of the mill MMORPG. But, oh, how i was wrong. This MMORPG features thousands skills, magic abilities and like it says, eye-popping graphics, a stunning fighting system, great monsters and a stunning story-line which will make you immersed in the glory that is 'Guild Wars'. Graphics - 10 Weapons and armour - 10 (Thousands of items available to players) Sounds - 8 (Just magic effects and stuff) PVP - 10 General Gameplay - 10 Overall rating - 10!

Comment: I wouldn"t say best game ever... but i would say best free MMORPG ever, I"ve been playing for 2 months now and I"ve barely broken the surface. I dont know if its worth the 150$ to get the whole set (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall), but its definitley fun when your bored or you just wanna have fun. I dont kno the jerks who think runescape is better than this, but they have something wront with them. Very good game. Although it does get very difficult at times and its very hard to assemble a good party. But overall I give this game a 9 out of 10.

Comment: All I have to say is WOW. The graphics are amazing, and the combat is kind of straightforward, but all in all a great game. Magic is detailed. Combat is detailed. The guild system is VERY detailed. Hell, you can even personalize your own armor. If you like free to play games, this is one you HAVE TO OWN. It's tons better than all free to play MMOs. I recommend to EVERYBODY!

Comment: THE best and most intense game ive ever played. for those of you who think this game gets absolutely boring, i"d say you either cant think fast enough to react to whats happening or you just straight up stink at games. if you like fps but not rpgs, this game will definitely be the silver bullet. for those of you who like WoW... you might as well play runescape cuse its free and theres just as much fun (not much at all to be exact) as WoW. no joke: great graphics, sounds, intense pve + pvp. Its a game like no other *Angels Sing*

Comment: The thing I love the most about Guild Wars is this: It actually discourages going out for hours upon hours and mindlessly grinding away to get to the next level. Quests can be done easily for the most part and are fun. Since quests often give spells and experience as rewards, you can level up off of them and get stronger for when you DO want to go out and grind. Also great about this game are the graphics, they are without doubt the most amazing of any free MMORPG I've seen to date. You can really enjoy watching your enemies' heads explode, whereas in other games you'd sit there wondering what is going on as you stare at a strange shape slightly resembling a person. While some pay-to-play games like WoW are paper-thin on their story, Guild Wars has a deep, involving story that I simply love. An EXCELLENT addition to this game is that whenever you enter a combat area, it generates a private copy of the world for you and your party. This is awesome because there's no more competition for the big enemy that drops the new uber sword you've been wanting. The guild system is also AMAZING, each guild gets a guild hall, which is like a base, that their members can access to hang out, meet up for quests, and much more. A variety of NPCs can be added the guild halls to make them a sort of convenience store. I'm told that guild vs. guild combat is very fun, but I haven't been in a big enough guild to do it yet (I guess that's the downside of preferring small, friendly guilds). The PVP system is also great, allowing players to create PVP-only characters that start out at level 20 (level cap). Oh, and dont worry about the level cap being so low. It takes quite a while to level up. And finally we come to the games only real flaw: The limited equipment. The game is teeming with weapons of all sorts of customizations, but certain classes suffer from a very limited selection of armor. Elementalist is a shining example of this. It is VERY frequent that you will see a Lvl20 Elementalist wearing an armor set that is easily obtained at level 7-8. While some classes have a TON of armor, others don't. This is irritating for some players becase most people think that their L337 Lvl20 character should have really awesome armor. But there is an easy fix to this issue: buy an expansion pack. Each expansion adds a heap of new gear to most classes. So my opinion is that this is BY FAR the best free MMORPG on the market. Try for yourself, what have you got to lose? It's only $30.

Comment: Comes close to the best MMO out there. Graphics-9 Wounderful. The enviroments are so beautiful. Spells are colourful and bright. Tesxtures and the players are awesome to. Gameplay- 9 IS awesome. Battling takes a long time to get bored of. New skill, quests. The story is wonderful, though not complete. (Though will be soon when the first expansion comes out) New monsters at every new area. These provide a new challenge and a new type of build. PvP - 10 Is prob what guild wars is most famous for. It is great. You can battle others any time in random arenas. Team arenas are basically randoms but you can make teams. Halls is a big scale battle with 8v8 (though as been 6v6, programers are trying to decide which is better) Guild battles are 8v8 and are great fun. Sound+Music-9 Music is nice. Suits the enviroment well. Can get sick of it though after 6 months or so of playing... Community-8 It's very nice, there are a few chilren who spam. And local big towns will have WTS WTS everywhere. But people are usally nice. Guilds are the peek of the community. Its what makes it fun and soicable. not only can you be in a guild but a alliance to. (which doesnt really effect you unless you have factions) Overall - 9 Alot of things great about this game. WoW fans or fans of grinding and becoming the top by pure power might not like this. Its more about smarts and setting yoru skills right. There isn't any LeeT items. Your build and skills is the only Leet thing (you can have 8 skills) Other then that this game will laast you about 6 months, then you might feel a lil bored so getting the next chapter is a good option

Comment: jankywank what are you talking about? If this game is overated garbage why do 85% of the people who play the game love it? I do not think it is overated, and they have fixed most ofthe error's in game. Overall here is my rating, Graphic's 10-Nice- Have seen better in previous games like EVE online but this is great if you are one of the people who don't think it is necissary to pay 15$ a mounth, which I think is robbery to begin with. Sound-8-good- Iv'e seen better in the time i have been gaming but it's still a thriller to hear, hehe, they need to work on the spell sounds. Community-NICE-Impressed here with the community, its not hard to get exepted into a guild You just need to make sure its a good one. NOTE: Like all games it has the LEET 1337 kids that talk trash to people, if you have ventrilo teamspeak or Xfire you will hear them on the mic or randomly PMing you. There is also a issue of them begging for free item's or help when this game has a lvl 20 cap.

Comment: Personally, this is the best MMORPG, or actually game in general that I"ve ever played. -------------------------------------------------- Content 10/10 This game has a very-long campaign with hundreds of quests. Plus, you can get expansions with new proffessions and more campaigns. There are also many missions with bonuses. There are main places that play major roles in the storyline, as well as outposts outside major regions. You can always explore and find places. There are many things to get. Tons of monsters, though a lot of repeated and recolored images. Several different animals for rangers to tame. -------------------------------------------------- Gameplay 10/10 The battling is the thing that really is good. 6 professions in Prophecies(Original) and 2 more each in all others except Eye of The North (selling holidays of 2007.) There are hundreds of skills. You can also have a secondary proffesion. You have a primary attribute only if you a primary of a class. So like A Ranger/Monk has Expertise (Ranger Primary Attribute) but doesnt have Divine Favor. But you get skills of the secondary added to yours. There is also no force of Soloing or going with players. You can bring players of henchman, (weak though they may be,) (or heroes if you have Nightfall). Plus, you can upgrade your armor with Runes and Insignias. You can also upgrade weapons with the specific Item, as well as find ubgraded ones from foes. You can get skills for battle from quests and skill trainers. You get skill points and stat points from leveling up. -------------------------------------------------- Trade 6.5/10 The Game isnt focused much on trade or tradeskills. There is still value of money to buy things like armor, weapons and useless things like Ale or Candy. -------------------------------------------------- Socialability 8/10 You can go into Guilds with people, hench the name Guild Wars. You only are with people in cites, towns, mission areas and outposts. You are only with your party other places. -------------------------------------------------- Graphics 10/10 The graphics are just unbelieveable! They are personally better than any other game in existance. --------------------------------------------------Sound&Music 9/10 The sound definantly fits what happens yet the music isnt much varying or battling much. It"s still pretty good. -------------------------------------------------- Pvp 10/10 The PvP is more a game of quick thinking strategy than who has better stuff like in Runescape or other games. The PvP is only good if your lvl 20 usally. You can also make an automatically lvl 20 Pvp only character with totally customizxable armor. -------------------------------------------------- Overal 63/70 9

Comment: Terrible This game is the biggest peice of overrated garbage I have ever had the misfortune to try. Thank god I was using a friends account. If you like flashy automatic movies, lack of game play, and pretending that Pawnzoring people with worst internet connections than you makes you speical then this game is for you. If on the other hand you are looking for a game with you know... content then you may want to buy a diffrent game. Not only is this game repetitive but you can get through all the content in a day or so. You have to give it to them though. They made a game you could program on a graphing calulator and passed off the lack of content as a bonus. "Hey you don"t have to grind! ... you can... um... i don"t know. Maybe like attack each other or something?" This game is like City of Heroes meets Counterstrike minus the fun.

Comment: Guild wars was great, this guy makes it sound like its easy, eben though he probably doesnt have the most expensive weapons in the game, in fact 500k isnt all that great, there is cooler armor taht is always there and is very hard to get, efter you reach level 20 alot of it is farming and getting cooler looking armor and weapons, and joning a guild makes this VERY fun. There is also guild versus guild which is very fun, and pvp. Sure ... it gets repetitive, but so does every MMORPG, so calling it repetitive is a lame excuse for being a moron with stupid opinions.

Comment: I give this game an 7, i use to play it everyday, but after making 5 characters all level 20 with maxed out weapons and gear and minipets and having over 500k gold, the game gets boring. Even with all that gold i have, all i can do is just flaunt what i have, i still have items as good as someone with 50k gold and blue normal items you get from quest. PvE was fun and interesting in the beggining, but just got boring and repetitive in the end. I also hate it once i leave the town, its just me and my party againts the world. I dont feel like its a social thing. The guilds are a good idea if you could actually find a GOOD GUILD, that was interactive. If you found one, you are lucky, but many times i would join a guild with lots of members but none of them would be willing to help me doing a mission or would want to go pvp with me. Everyone had their own agenda. My favorite thing of this game was the PVP because it was nothing like ive seen before. Unlike games like d2, where it matted on how high leveled you were and how godly your gear was, Guidl wars is different where its all about strategy. In my opinion, guild wars is the new way to play chess. So in conclusion, PvE not social enough. The market is bad, once your rich all you do with all that extra money is just try to flaunt it and look cool. And the pvp is great. Community is good if you can find a GOOD guild

Comment: guild wars was fun at first... i loved the combat the monsters the quests..just a fun game...but the farther i progressed through the more boring it got..it was fun to play with small groups of 4 but then the amount of people to group with increased and it just got to hard to find a good group or to even find people to group with...the pvp was fun but got a little repetitive. i'd have to say what really bothered me was the whole map being instanced thing.i only played guildwars for about 2 and a half weeks before i got to 20 and quit.... the graphics are awesome but overall i was disappointed .i must admit though it had its moments.

Comment: Decent game, but still lacks a lot. First of all i'd like to point out to everyone that this game isn't really an MMO. Pvp gets way too repetitive. The linear storyline is really stupid, if you go back to a city you just went to the storyline rewinds, and yes i'm being serious. The marketing strategy is really starting to piss me off, i mean the game really isn't free. The character development is good, but the physical appereance system isn't good. But on the up side it's graphics are top notch, the gameplay is great, and community is good. I give this game a 6

Comment: Guild Wars is the best MMORPG without subsciption fees at this moment in time. There for It is unfair to compare this to a game such as World of warcraft requires a $15 a month subscription. Story It has a huge story experience, that has a time line that effects the world you play in as you progress through it, it reminded me of the books you have as a child where you pick the route you take by jumping pages, but you will end up at the same conclusion :P. PvP A pvp system thats worthy of mention many different classes with interesting abilities meet in a battleground where five fight five to the death. I enjoyed this as you can gain a small ammount of experience doing this.rather than feeling like a sub game for when you get bored. Now the bad points lag is an issue and unfortunately as soon as you leave the towns you will not see another player unless grouped as you are basically entering an "instance" (in world of warcraft terms). Yes it does lack some content in terms of character control and social interaction but not enough to hinder it when standing on the "no online subscription" leg.

You can't control your pet like you do in WoW, what ever you attack it attack it, it won't tank it or attack it first w/0 u hitting it. you can't meet other ppl outisde of town or kill other ppl outside of town. each person gets ther own map to play with so it like playing a non-online game. Its the worst game ever made. It would of been great if it was more social active. you get bored fast and only lvl to 20. DONT BUY IT. I BOUGHT IT AND I HATE IT.

Comment: In a nutshell i will describe guild wars, It has fully proved being better then WoW as its f2p although you end up payed 150$ for all the expansion packs. Its over all ranking on the web is 8.8 as world of warcrafts is 6.7 making this the number one MMorPG on the web. Graphics: completely stunning as you can see simply from the screen shot, it has a vast instance type world. Which is actualy its only downfall, when you enter a zone you can take 4-8 people with you in your party and go in to a zone with noone in it but you and your party. It is considered a boom and a bust witht the instance play as D&D players will like it but people from normal mmorpgs with vast explorable places where their are no zones, will probably hate it horrible. Playability: Its a overall good control featuring game as you can use wasd controls or arrows or even your mouse, all depends on what you play and how you do it. Sound: Well i have no complaints in the catagory as its pretty flawless sound track. Community: Average, there are some rude and ignorant people in the game and there are mostly nice and helpfull people. Now if your one of the 9 year olds that like the 1337 language, go play runescape as youll find more people in commen with you there then you will this game. The world of guildwars: It is vast and commenly notified as HUGE but as i explained above it is instance style which means around 40% of the towns are abandoned, so good luck doing low life missions because your going to be taking your Henchmen which are hired npcs that work with you on your journeys and are often unreliable and have terrible builds. Builds: these are a set of skills that players use as different effects or combo's to kill there enemys with. In this game there is lots of playable classes the only real downfall is that you can only be a human as a race, this is where most games crush guildwars, i would sincerely like to see some lineage 2 races implemented in Guild wars. Graphics: 9.3 Sound: 10 Playability: 10 Map: 7.8 Community: 6.7 Overall: 9.467 Sincerely maximum damage.

Comment: This is a game you buy in a store. it is a free MMORPG, but not a free game. Much better than Runescape on so many levels, but worse than WoW. I like GW better than WoW, There are 10 classes, great quests and missions, fairly balanced play, great PvP. You dont need to worry about Spawn Killing and raids, when you go out of town, It's a one player game. This is a great game, but does have some problems(I NEED MORE SWORDSMANSHIP SKILLS!) Summary: Lets make RS 1,000,000,000 times better Graphics: 4.5/5 Better than WoW! Each guild has its own unique cape you design and characters can differ greatly. Play: 4/5 Hate point and clicks but this take it to a whole new level! tons of skills and you are able to change from one weapon proficiency to another very quickly. Sound- 3/5 Prophecies sound is good, beutiful, but dissapears every now and then.

Comment: Thia game is great at first, but after about 6 months, u get bored as hell -Who said this was free? -There isnt a lot of things to do, just missions -theres no point in getting money, thers nothing to buy with it. -the combat is so limited, u cant jump or anything for a 3d game, all u do is click a sqaure and ur guys weapons turns a mess of colors and u do damage.... also, thers no skill requiremnt for skills, so everyone really has same skills throughour game which is mad boring

Comment: I really like this game. The concept is simple and easy to learn. Some people don"t like it. I don"t give a damn. What I don"t like is in the first "chapter" everyone is either a pervert, a rascist, and idiot, or any combination of the three. I love the instanced thing. It sure beats WoW"s concept (the spawn camping, the brain dead guilds, hateful community, the lvl 60"s striding into the newbie areas and obliterating everyone and making them miserable). But what I really hate is you snobs who act like you play WoW and now deserve everyone to bow before you. We don"t need your fake "omg u cant pay 15 month i f33l sory" sympathy, you preps. All that aside, I cancelled my subscription to WoW and take up residence here. The skill level, not THE level, is what makes your characters good, and it doesn"t suck what little bitty life you have away like WoW. I would rather have to put up with idiots and only level to 20 and have it be repetitive with it free, than put up with idiots, lvl to 60 in 1 week, and deal with repetition and having you and your lvl 4 buddies killing murlocs be killed by lvl 45 tauren warrior and waiting for you to come back to your bodies so he can do it again for 15 bucks a month.

Comment: This game has created a genre of its own whilst not quite the classic mmorpg it is more of a platform online rpg. Sounds strange but is one of the most addictive and brilliant games of its time. Not only that but its all free! No monthly subscription fees, just 100's of hours worth of gaming for as little as £10.00. Sound worth it too you? What I will say though is that this game is not for the adventurers in you. If you want to explore and go round killing monsters by the buketload whilst still getting back to town in time for tea then you will be dissapointed. This game is not about being a heavyweight magician but utilises tactics and different styles of playing your charracter as they each have such different and interesting skills (unlike many classic RPG's). In my opinion the storyline is a lead up to the INCREADIBLY challenging pvp which is the best of and mmorpg i can find, ANYWHERE. If u want your armour to look completely different from everyone elses and this is a big issue for you dont buy this game, if you want to stroll around happily slaughtering enemies dont buy this game, if you want to be completely free and have clone skills of the next person dont buy this game, because its the tactics and the limitations of skills that make this game good and the fact you can't survive long against 5 crazy hungry ettins. This game took me a year to get bored of. And believe me that says something about this game. It will never cease to challenge you!!!

Comment: this game is great, ok its not awsome, but it has alot of stratagy to it. it realy takes stratagic ability. people say that the 8 skill limit is bad but for the style of the game i think it is great, choseing the right skills is very important and there are meny different takes on different builds. yes only one race but you can cross class. this gives even more opertunity for stragy. and the level cap is an important aspect of the game, so some person with no life that is max level and max gear will own you in the face, they stop that by having a lower level cap, because level is not everything in this game like most other MMORPGs (WOW big time)! yes this game is not perfict like the worlds are your own instance and guild battles are only 8v8 players (this 8v8 adds stratigy again). and there are other arguable flaws to the game. this game is more about stragitgic abilaty more then any thing and i think that is why i like it so much always trying to find new builds that are good and creative! i give it a 9 cause its a good game but has its flaws! as far as people saying it is better then WOW, i dont think eather is better then each other they r great at doing what they do!

Comment: Ya i liked the game for a little while... then it just blew up in my face!! i mean it was fun but i must agree with medusa this game is for children it tells you too much and its all just fighting nothing else and the quests are pretty pointless sometimes when you can just go powerlvl with some freaky dudes that have been playing since hell unfroze i mean its pretty good for a while but it doesnt satisfy you after you get to lvl 20 sure there are a bunch of stuff to do but you just dont have the motivation to do it the guilds are usually unhelpful anyway.. nomatter how big they are everything about the game is great i just dont have motivation the only thing i really cared about is the storyline..... after that was over i just didnt want to do anything.....nothing to drive me well i think i have made my point.... i will give it a 7 because its a great game but no motivation

Comment: Guildwars has cute graphics, it's a nice game. But I really miss the social element, the world is really small and is also instanced. :( There's only one race and I find I keep running into myself or clones rather O.o. Soooo many vacant towns! People are hiding in the starting areas and some wierd secret underground lair I don't know about. You can only equipt 8 spells at a time and that gets kind of annoying for me after a while. I have played tons of games and this one is not the greatest I must say... The character graphics and scenery is good, but the spells... the effects are HORRIBLE! Sometimes I can't even tell if I did it or not! For me it got very boring, very quickly. The highest level you can reach is 20 and it's a bit too easy to get there if you ask me. This game has no monthly fees and that's the only plus to it in my eyes.Agood starter game because its free... For me instant traveling and telling me EXACTLY where the quests are spoils all the fun... Very good for children, easy and with lots of instant gratification.

Comment: Guild Wars is an instanced world action fighting game, not a role-playing game. "Instanced" means that when you go out of the city, the only players you will see are those of your own team: the explorable area is created for your team only. The game can become very boring after a while. Every city has the same traders selling the same items. Items are pretty much similar with their attributes. When you leave the city, it's always the monsters same place waiting for you to kill them. The world is very hollow. There is nothing else to do than fighting. The only playable race is human, but there are several professions you can play. 3 Chapters have been published: each one is sold as a stand alone game, but you can bring all your characters from one chapter to another. With the 3 chapters published so far, the player base has spread so wide, over 90% of the towns are ghost-towns: there is hardly anyone there. The starter areas are well populated, though. You can learn hundreds of skills, but your character can only equip 8 skills (also spells are skills). This is one of the downsides of the game: you will find out that other players think you NEED to have a certain build of skills for you to be useful. For example, of the elementalist profession only fire elementalists that have Meteor Shower and ability to echo this spell ("echo nuker") are welcomed into teams. Water, air and earth magic is almost not used at all. With the necromancer profession, you either go as a minion master that controls undead servants, or as a "SS" that uses a spell from the curses-attribute line. Assasins, ritualists, mesmers, dervishes and paragons have great difficulties to get in player teams anywhere. Many game areas have fallen into "barrage-pet" or "5-men farming team" playing, where your team composition and player skills are always the same. This is due to the fact, that the monster spawns are each time the same, and the fighting is predictable. The game is all about fighting, but it's rather well done. When you choose to attack your target, you go into auto-attacking (using your equipped weapon). But you can and do use your 8 equipped skills to increase the dameage, protect yourself, cause conditions, disable your targets/buff your allies and so on. You start the game from a tutorial area. Top level you can reach is 20, and you reach it very soon. You can buy all the top weapons ridiculously cheap from other players already from the city you start. Any max damage weapon is just about as good as the next one. Monsters drop weapons, but armors you need to buy from NPC-armor traders, and they are the only thing that really cost money and raw materials. Weapons are cheap, unless you want some rare skin weapons. There is both PvE- and PvP-gaming. Player versus player (PvP) takes places in arenas, so there is no fear any player will attack you in cities or in explorable areas. The graphics for characters and secenery are very good. Spell effects are from pathetic to non-existing. Weapon skins are decent and there is a rather good variety of different sort of both weapon and armor skins. After you play a chapter's missions through, you spend endlessly time in farming, that is, killing monsters for gold or some named weapon they might drop.

Comment: If you are looking for a great online game this is probably the best choice if you want a game with no monthly fee. The graphics and gameplay are awsome. The flaw of this game is that some ppl think they are a pro at this game and that they know everything but when you actually see their performance they aren't that good. There are some helpful players and the PVP aspect is better than most other games. I definitely reccommend this game.

Comment: For all you people who like whining about a small LVL 20 cap: PAY ATTENTION!!! A high level cap is unfair for the following reason: Person A is a gifted gamer who has reached level 50 in Common MMO. Her skills are very admirable and she got a very rare item that she will probably use in the future. Suddenly, Jerk B pops out of the ground. Jerk B is a level 200 9 year old that gained his experience and loot on innocent people that were weaker than him. He owns the gifted Person A with a single attack and takes the rare item, selling it and laughing the whole time. This is why a PvP game like Common MMO is so pathetic. Now let"s see the same scenario with Guild Wars. Person A is a gifted gamer who has reached level 15 in Guild Wars. Her skills are very admirable and she got a very rare item that she will probably use in the future. Suddenly, Jerk B pops out of the ground. Jerk B is a level 20 9 year old that plans on gaining his experience and loot on innocent people that are weaker than he. Using proper strategy and skill, Person A kicks Jerk B"s butt and keeps her stuff. I haven"t played Guild Wars yet but that"s my lecture on why Level Caps are good. And that"s why I love this game already.

Comment: Why the hell are you little nubblets complaining about the levl cap!!! Do any of you know why WoW still has players? Because they addict them with the level cap. *mimics a WoW junkie* Oh my only level 45, must train! train! train!!! So i can beat little 5 year olds who dont have a life and play nonstop. (sorry for ranting) GW, on the otherhand, rewards you not for playing time, but for playing skill. It will take about 2-3 weeks to reach level 20 (Casual gamers as well, and then you will be assimilated into the game pretty well, but i recommend playing most of the storyline before you jump into PVP battles and such, since you will not be accustomed to anything. OVerall this game gets a perfect score on my game, and again, people complaining about monsters being 10 lvls over them? you usually have 8 people in your group so i really think its not a problem.

Comment: The great thing about this game is the level cap, because that means no level 200 uber-leet 12 year old can kill you with one attack, call you a noob and dance on your corpse. The PvE campaigns are decent, the missions are varied enough to keep you interested (some require you to annhilate everything in a blind rage, others are easier to do by sneaking past patrols) and there's a heck of a lot of quests too. PvP is completely different though, i've never seen another game like this as far as PvP goes. The most obvious form of PvP is Guild Vs Guild battles, two guilds of 8 people and several NPC's have to kill each others Guild Lords and also capture a central flag stand to get a morale boost. There's an intense amount of strategy involved in GvG including players skills, split strategies (splitting into two teams of 4), when to repair the siege catapult, etc. There's also 4vs4 which is basicly a quick "Wham Bam!" game of whoever can annihilate each other the fastest. Thanks to the level cap this game keeps everything fair and the best players generally win. On the downside, lag hasn't been a rarity recently and this can cause your character to "rubber-band" across the screen.. Also on a low end computer expect your frame-rate to fall into single figures when you enter a highly populated outpost. Overall this is a decent game, definitely worth buying.

Comment: After playing world of warcraft i find this game SO much better than i did when i first tried the beta... The pvp is a lot more well thought out and they add new classes (4 new atm) WOW wont probably see new classes....EVER, blizzard has lost their touch in making unbeatable games like Diablo 1&2, starcraft and warcraft games. WOW is fun and amazing a couple of months depending on how fast you notice that you are doing th exact same thing over and over again. While Guildwars sometimes seems to follow the same path, NCsoft always adds more things and making the game extremly user friendly. You got 8 skills and no room for mistakes...my kind of game rating 10 because : Content and a solid gaming experience. No monthly fee too, but that doesnt count i game reviews IMO cause if the game is GREAT i dont mind paying, which really doesnt work for WOW because no new content or anything. The burning crusade WOW expansion adds MORE of the same...nothing new in other words thanks for reading

Although amazing graphics the game is amazingly complicated. It is not a real mmo with only 4 players going out of cities at a time...... The pvp is fun but during one round 3 noobs were able to own my team (who were all way beter...) bcuz they had one high lvl priest whos hp didnt even lower....The battle lasted 35 mins and i juyst gave up....... Great game i suggest getting it. World of Warcraft is way better though and worth the $15 dollars a month.

Comment: pros : very very impressive graphics. wide range of skills lots of combinations of classes will last u a long time sound is awesome pvp is one of the best no monthly fees!!!! no ksing!!! great gameplay cons:feels more like a rpg than a mmorpg although u can only level to level 20 , but there is a reason for that. think about it.......... a mmorpg is not about leveling. people who think that the higher the level u are , the stronger u are. thats not true entirely. its about the skill combination and class combination and your party members/or henchmen that determines how good u are.

Comment: It is a very good game but the problem c with this game is that first, if u r max level, it gets REALLY boring if u dont PvP. Its also kinda like a solo game if u dont have friends in r/l who play this either cause altho it is an MMORPG, its kinda hard to interact with ppl. Faction did make it a little better but many problems still occur to me. Good qualities in this game is The graphics are the best i ever seen. There is a good amount of Job Class u can choose. Overall i give this a 7.

Comment: I have been playing this game since it has came, and I still love everything about it. There's no kill stealing, Mob camping/farming, and the PvP is very much the basis of the game. As long you learn strategic fighting and a well balanced group, you will find it easy to win and very fun. One of the downsides of the game is...well... I guess the only people hating this game will be player who actually like to steal kills...

Comment: I've been playing Guild Wars for about five months now. It's a very good choice for the casual gamer because you only level to 20 and it requires skill rather than time invested. If you love to play PvP, Guild Wars is also an excellent choice. However, if you aren't into PvP and you prefer role playing and tradeskills and deeper character development, Guild Wars may not hold your attention for long. There are no tradeskills in Guild Wars, period. If you are a casual rpg fan, then Guild Wars is good. If you are a hardcore rpg fan and need lots of new content and a variety of things to occupy you, Guild Wars may not fit the bill. Alot of my friends left the game and went elsewhere because they felt there was nothing much to do in game but to fight, and without level gain after 20 some of them found it pointless. Most PvE players create several different characters to take through the game. So many players do this that we will soon be offered the option to purchase extra character slots for our accounts. Guild Wars also has computer controlled henchmen, which is one of the best aspects of the game. You don't need to take other players everywhere you go. But henchmen DO get their cut of the loot, and you will notice that the drop rate decreases for you if you take them with you. And all of the explorable areas (places where you fight) are instanced, your own private little gameworld where no players other than those in your party can go. However, if you are the type that likes to solo for the increased drop rate on items, there are only a few classes that can do this and only in a handful of areas. Guild Wars was meant for cooperative play and the game developers sometimes change the monster skills in solo farming areas to make it impossible to do it. But you don't have to fight over the drops anyway, since every item that drops is randomly assigned to a member of your party and no one else can pick those items up. There is also map travel in Guild Wars. You don't need to fight your way to a town more than a single time to open it on your map and make the town accessible anytime you wish to go there. Another good thing about Guild Wars is the versatility of your skills and abilities. You don't have stats like dexterity or wisdom or anything like that. Instead each class has attributes. For example a necromancer has four attributes. Blood Magic, Death Magic, Curses, and Soul Reaping. The more attribute points you spend in death magic the higher level your minions will be. You can change your attribute points anytime you want as long as you are in a town. You gain attribute points as you level and you never lose your attribute points, so don't worry about taking points from one attribute to put into another. That is a common fear early in the game for new players. Skill points, also gained at leveling, are the spendable points, and you only ever use those when you see a skill trainer and decide to purchase skills. It will cost you some gold and 1 skill point per skill you wish to buy. If you start with Prophecies most of your skills can be had for free through quests. However, if you start out in Factions, you will have to purchase most of your skills. Guild Wars Prophecies is the first chapter of the game. Guild Wars Factions is the second chapter and was marketed as a stand alone game. You don't need both in order to play, however, Factions levels you alot faster and there are plenty of high level mobs. If you are new to Guild Wars it might be wiser to begin with Prophecies. You will level much slower, but you will gain most of your skills for free and you will learn what you are doing on enemies appropriate to your level. There is a starter island in Factions and I did create a brand new charater there. I had the experience of the first game to draw from and even I was surprised at the size of some of the mobs they put in there. There are a few tough spots in Prophecies, but the feeling of being gradually eased into the game is present there unlike in Factions, which seems too rushed and too short. And they did add an element of grind to Factions that they didn't have in the first chapter, very likely to make up for the lack of content. Most experienced Guild Wars players agree that Factions is an expansion, regardless of the fact that it was marketed as a stand alone product. I will also express to you my thoughts on the community of Guild Wars. I don't have children myself, but I would not allow a child of mine to go near this game. At least not without supervision. If you as a parent play it or you know and trust people who play it and know who your child will be playing with, then it might be ok. But lately the behavior of the Guild Wars community has been on a rapid decline. There will always be perverts and racists anywhere you go online. The staff does their best to get rid of those people but there are no regular GM's on the game to monitor what is going on and they basically rely on us to report problems when we see them. But beyond that, there are people on Guild Wars who I wouldn't want influencing my kids. These are the type of people who have no manners and they curse and they rant and they make hateful comments and generally give other players a hard time. There is a chat filter, but it is easy to turn it off from the options menu. I would've given Guild Wars a higher rating if it were not for Factions. But since I did not see a Factions only review, you are getting my rating for both games combined, and it is probably somewhat colored by my growing disgust with the player community.

Comment: Most people say that the only thing bad about this game is the fact that when you leave a city, its just you and your team. You might not like that hole aspect of the game but the fact is once you get farther into the game you will almost always leave with a team because its so hard. the max lvl of 20 helps beacause you dont have to go through the anoying constant training... and trust me, that gets really anoying in games like anarchy online. The pvp is also awsome and easy to do. I must say one thign though: if you can afford a monthly fee , go with wow because its better than this game, but its not worth it to pay the monthly fee inless you are like... reaaly rich.

Comment: Yes, get it. The max level actualy helps, by making you better by how good you are at the game, and not how long you paly it, like in Runescape. This game is quite good. I do not understand why people would rate this anything under a 7 or 6. It is undeniable that the graphics are wonderful. Although most games that are purely combat based get overly repetitive because of their uncreative combat system, this game actually does not get all to redundant. Quite fun an addictive. I would reccomend this game to anybody who wants a good MMORPg without a reccuring monthly subscription fee.

Comment: The game was pretty fun for a while. The game isnt bad at all. I highly recommed it to someone who has a decent computer and dosnt want to pay a monthly fee. Though the game will get really repeditiv after a few weeks. It seems all the missions have to be team based and it doesnt feel like a mmorpg. You can only go out in the world with 8 people in a party which is kinda annoying and you can only go to lvl 20. But hey it was actually not a bad game and i loved it.

Comment: Simply brilliant. The lack of a monthly fee is alone enough incentive for most people to buy it, and the screenshots speak for themselves. The best thing is the polished PvP system, and the only barrier is the level limit, which players will reach in a month or less, and is the only thing stopping it from getting a 10.

Comment: This game is awsome, it has good graphics and game play. The story line is fairly good though at times it gets a little confusing. I have been playing this game for about a year and I have 3 ascended characters: a necro/war, ranger/monk, warrior/ele. The major flaw in this game is the level cap. Unlike most games this one only has a level cap of 20 and it isn't very hard to get to. Thats not that big of a problem because the combat system is about how to combine your skills to work at their full potiential and how many attribute points you have on each particular skill's catagory. Overall this game is worth it and it does not require a monthly fee.

This game has a single player style exploreation system that is great. There 6 clases all of which are all diffrent. This game has a great multiplayer too. The mutiplayer is in towns or in party. In towns you can chat and trade with other players, while trying to gather a party. And the stores are intressting, you get matterials and gove them to the crafter, and then pay them. I love this game, there is something for everyone in this game and thats why I give it a 10.

(I hate CHARR!!!!) If you play the game you know what I m talking about... Anyways, you reach lvl 20 after 6 days, then what happens next? This game however, has a lot of potential. Increase lvl cap to at least 50 and add new storyline and towns, this game can compete with WoW...

The graphics are incredable, and theres lots of quests to do, since thats pretty much all you do. You do work on your skills, getting xp my fighting. Ther are millions of weapons/armour pieces to get. Join a guild, then get a cool cape ;) . Its around $50, but once you get it, you dont have to pay anything else. It will probably get cheaper once more people buy it. GREAT GAME!!!

Comment: I bought this game because the graphics are great and there are no monthly fees. Good: - Graphics are great. - Combat is smooth but does not require any real skill as FPS games do, just deciding what to spend ur mana on, rly. Bad: - Game. - Small world. - No exploration. - Completely linear. - The world outside towns and cities is more of an rpg; just you and your party exist within it. - Terrain is completely pathed. - There is no 1-on-1 pvp. - There are only about 10 different sets of armour in the WHOLE GAME. - Armour and weapons are completely class specific. - Max level in 2 weeks, then what?

Comment: Graphically very nice and yes, free is appealing, but in the end you play the game they want you to play and not the game you might want to play. A little too much forced storyline play to level and the "Instant warrior" max character for PVP only minimizes the challenge/accomplishment of building a character from scratch. It s pretty, but it lacks character free will IMO.

Comment: Im an ex-EQ junkie and i love mmorpgs. This game ,however, takes the genre to a new lvl.If you like hanging with your online pals and lvling and doing quests this game is great for that.If you enjoy PvP games this game is more or less designed for that.On the other hand,if you like RPGs without grouping with ppl this game is great becuase you can get henchmen who are NPCs in the game to join your group to complete quests and help you to lvl and just go to cities and towns to chat and trade items with other players. The main reason I enjoy the game is the fact that when you leave a city and venture out,the game world is your own private area. That means no waiting for others to kill an enemy for a quest then waiting around for the enemy to regen so your group can kill it.Theres no fighting back and forth over which group got to an area first to farm for anything. Its your very own area.I enjoy this game and I think that wether you love mmorpgs or hate mmorpgs but love rpgs. You will enjoy this game.
