A valley without wind

A 2D sidescroller without a linear path. An action game with tactical combat and citybuilding. An adventure game that lets you free-roam a vast, procedurally-generated world. A Valley Without Wind defies genre stereotypes. Unlike other procedurally-generated games, you also get a logical progression in difficulty, plus helpful tips and checklists to guide your travels (should you need them).

Comment: I don’t like this game. It’s 2D and i think that for citybuilding you need 3D, it’s forgotten and needs to be improved. 3/10.

Comment: Am not fun of 2d RPG game, so i dont like this game a lot. Goal of this game is destroy bosses on continents. On beginning u pick char for play, every char have specific stats that u can upgrade during game. Big problem is that when u die, u lose all ur upgraded stats. Map is confusing and graph is rly low

Comment: ive seen my brother play this game for awhile, he said its a very addictive and fun game if you can see past the bad graphics. my problem is that i just couldnt do it, i dont have any problems with dated graphics but this game just seemed too bad (graphics-wise). other than that i didnt see much of anything noteworthy in the game, a 2d action game, dunno what else to say about it…

  1. After checking out the screenshots and stuff I thought it looked pretty interesting, so I went and got it. It has a bunch of really interesting ideas like settlement building and things, but after about an hour and a half, I just realized I wasn’t having fun at all. This just a boring game with a strange story.

  2. It is appealing to the eyes. Even though it is only 2D.
The scene is also somewhat cool (& gloomy at least for me).

I havent tried it yet but i saw screenies. So i still cant tell if its all good on the inside. Because from what ive seen so far, its neat.

  3. A Valley Without Wind is made for digital explorers with huge worlds full of secrets. But if you choose a peculiar graphic style you have to work on details and Arcen Games forgot that rule.
The focused free-roaming through procedurally generated realms (now there’s a sentence for people unfamiliar with videogame terminology) is a very successful formula for drawing the player into the title, and I’ve found myself being lured back to the game a fair bit in my spare moments.
The appeal of its randomly generated settings wears off quickly, the procedural level generation voids much sense of having an impact on the world, and the absence of any kind of compelling story or brilliantly designed levels eventually renders exploration a slog.

Try the demo. It’s not for everyone. I played it with my friend a long time ago, thought it was an OK game. Came back several months later taking my time playing solo, and actually getting INTO it. There’s a LOT to wrap your head around, prepare to learn, you’re gonna pick up a lot of things you don’t know what to do with for a while, however in a lot of ways combat is no different than Terraria combat, or a platformer like that.

    I would rate it 4/5.

  5. A Valley Without Wind is an alright action-adventure game. Certainly not as interesting graphically since it feels like it’s older than it actually is, and it could just be the use of textured graphics, but I do like some bits like the parallax effect in the background as you move around. Gameplay is alright; I like the procedurally generated world, but I feel like the combat can be a bit boring at times. And it’s certainly not as fun as its successor A Valley Without Wind 2. Overall, I’d rate this game a 3.5/5.
